MazdaSpeed Protege 2003.5
Hello to all!

I'm new here and I just got myself a 2003.5 MSP in Titanium Grey about a month ago. Awesome car! I had a 1988 Toyota Supra (non-turbo) prior to that and even though that car had 200 hp to the Speed's 170 - the speed still feels a helluva lot faster! :D

Only problem is, some a$$hole broke into my car barely 2 wks after I got it and tried to make off with my fancy Kenwood stereo.

BUT! The dumbass didn't even manage to take it out of the dash!!! (upyours) (upyours) (although he busted it pretty good trying though) Caused about $2000 damage (new window & tint, stereo, center console, cleaning the car)

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a better alarm sytem for it cause if I'm not mistaken the stock unit doesn't even detect a glass break.

Anyone else replace the alarm on their speed? If so what do you all suggest?

Thanks, & looking forward to hearing from y'all!!!!
:D

Welcome to the forums. That sucks about the break-in damn bastards!

I have not changed my alarm. I do know my friend has much fun setting it off with his exhaust.

Have fun!!!

hey ! what's up ?!? good pic on the color ! hehehe :D welcome and enjoy your car ! oh yeah, don't believe what others say (like blah blah this car sucks because it's got the clunk and fails everywhere blah blah) that's just them ranting

That's strange some people have had problems with their alarms being too sensitive. That really sux. Congrats on the car. It's the best color MSP's are availiable in (or otherwise).

that sux but the alarm definately shouldve gone off... our alarm has a vibration sensor... i have it set on most sensitive and if i lightly kick the tire the alarm chirps. this would definately have detected someone breaking the glass

Yeah, mine goes off when I kick the tire. Getting an aftermarket alarm would allow you to also get a turbo timer. Plus if you got one with a pager, you would know when ur alarm is going off, even if you weren't anywhere near it.

Boostjunkie: whats up. I have the same car and my alarm sucks too. I would recommend getting a viper alarm I had that on my last car and it worked great. Thinking about putting it on my speed as well. I paid $200 installed for it. Hope that helps.

my alarm is a moris (splin?) code talker.....it goes besrek and beeps in different patterns and s***....its freakin crazy

Alarmwise, i cant say anything bad about my compustar. The thing has awesome range (got the 2wss-as model) and its got many options that you can use with it built in. For example, it comes with a turbo timer, even though i have no turbo :( . The pager is nice when you know someone is trying to get in your car. The remote start is great when its hella hot, or cold depending on where you live.

the compustar seems to be one of the coolest i've read so far...makes me want one, sort of...already got a turbo timer but alarm won't work w/ it on. oohwee i'd love to have a pager tell me someone's hitting my car...freakin' haters...bah anyway, if you want to set your alarm to be more or less sensitive, look under your steering column and find this lil' black box w/ a white knob. turning counter-clockwise (to the left if you don't knoe) will make it less sensitive to vibrations, clockwise (to the right) makes it more sensitive. yup !

edit: autobox- it's morse code :) just thought i'd let ya knoe

thx :) anyway i was at a meet and someones muffler set it off...and it was beepin all off and unpatterned like normal alarms..i think mine is is just whack :)

Welcome...I always concerned about that cuz the MSP does stand out.

you'll eventually get people who think its a EVO and ask if it has a rotary in it.
