need OEM video ribbon for flod down monitor

So my rear entertainment monitor will only work at partial open and it shuts off when opened all the way (normal viewing) I did not want to pay the stearlership $100 to diagnose the issue so I went to my local Best Buy and their geek squad tech showed me where the ribbon was ripped from every day use.

He suggested I ask the Mazda part department for this ribbon and they can install it for one hour labor. I am just wondering if anyone here has had the same issue and if the part was easy to source.

I do not want to cough up the $$ to replace the rear entertainment player/monitor from the dealer as an aftermarket piece will not tie in to the factory Bose surround/stereo.

Any suggestion from the A/V gurus?

I am not an A/V guru, but I definately don't think that Mazda is going to sell just the electrical ribbon. They are going to only sell the entire monitor unit. I am speaking of experience in a dealership (not Mazda) setting that I work at.

I got the same problem now and I know where to buy that flat cable.
However, I need to know how to remove DVD unit first. Anyone know how?
I really appreciate that.

can you let us know where you get the ribbon? My kid opens and closes that screen a hundred times a day. I am afraid mine won't last either after seeing the last few post.
