I bought the car with a little less than 30k miles. I did a quick visual inspection (without actually opening the calipers) and noticed that the pads were nearing their end but I figured I would wait for the squeakers to start making noise before I replaced them. A little more than 20k miles later, this is what I had. If you notice in the picture, the squeaker is actually broken off- DOH! And yes, the rotor was pretty chewed up to go along with it. The sound the brakes made when I applied them was almost enough for me to try to not hit the brakes just so I didn't have to hear that nasty metal on metal grinding noise.
I replaced the pads with some EBC Greens that I had bought a few months earlier- but then moved and the pads went to storage....... And the rotors were replaced with some $30 Autozone Duralast rotors (have had good experience with these on a different car in the past). The EBCs stop like you're throwing out an anchor, but DAMN do they dust! "Low dust" my ass! Maybe compared to a carbon/carbon race pad they're low dust.
