I have the eibach pro's and I'm happy with the drop but most importantly (for me) the handling. It's a very noticeable drop in the front and barely a drop in the back but the car is not raked like what some MSP's had happen with the spool springs. I have essentailly retained a stock ride with an almost non-existant wheel gap. It's about 1 finger in the front and tight 2 in the back. It took almost a month for the car to completely settle.

how do goldline springs compare with those mentioned above? i think i saw somewhere that they are madde by eibach???? (scratch)

well i just metioned those b/c they were all on apexr1.com for good prices thats all and i dont know which one is the best.

Im getting either Tein S techs, or Eiback Pros this summer.
Both are quality springs from a reputable company, and are both competively priced.

Id say either choice would be a great one.

I have goldline springs and the drop is about 1.8 inches all around. The handling on them are very awesome. I believe the owner of goldline used to do eibach springs but has recently seperated and created another brand. They are available through SPD racing for 130 bucks i believe. Chris is the man to talk about getting them.

I would think the main difference would be the amount of drop.

You need to consider:

1. Spring Type - Progressive or Linear
2. Spring Rate
3. Drop Amount

I recommend a linear spring, not more than 20% stiffer than stock spring rates which are:

145 lbs/in and 117 lbs/in (correct me if memory is wrong).

Eibach sportlines for the normal mazda protege are not a bad choice.

now my other question would be is it a very noticeable drop, like does the whole wheel well space gone..would it be bad for the winter time driving?

I'm getting the iON race when:

1. I have $$ to spend on them
2. they make another batch in late spring

These springs have the best spring rate I've seen & another MSP owner down here said that these springs alone cut .4 seconds off his 1320.

eibach>H&r>tech stech

i switched from eibach to H&R and i wish i never done it.

s tech is not a very well make springs.

what out for progessive spring in combination of low drop, you might experience some metal clunking sounds(cough h&R race)

need to get the strut to go along with it too

I gotta disagree with you there but keep in mind that we're talking about two different platform of cars. Tein is pretty high up on the list for quality when it comes to mazda parts in many people's eyes. I'm not sure where you came up with the "s tech is not a very well make springs" thing but every Protege owner that's had them has loved them.

My friend has H&R Race on his 2000 Civic & he loves them (no clunk) & he doesn't even have different shocks. H&R also makes the Race springs for VWs & those are great too...I wish they made them for Proteges, but all we get all the normal Sport springs. iON is the only one who makes race springs for us & they have a good drop with a progressive rear rate & they work just fine.

my s.techs kick ass. granted they arent teins top of the line coilover setup (like 1200 bucks) but they do the job well. the car has a great looking stance and the ride isnt too rough. they arent meant for autocrossing, theyre meant for more appearance, which is why your ride isnt degraded much. anyways, thumbs up to tein!

shouldnt you get new shocks before lowering the car?

For a normal car, you should always get upgraded dampers unless you want a super bouncy ride. If you're talking about the MSP, I think the stock Tokicos should be fine.

BTW, this is my 2000th post...YAY! (flash) (dance) (attn) (yes) (mj) (rockon) (yippy) (nana) (msptitani
