All dyno graphs are car specific however they allow an accurate estimation of possible gains from a specific modification.

3rd gen. 2.0L FS-DE
AEM short ram intake & Mazda sport exhaust:
Traditional initial modifications. Demonstrates realistic gains from simply improved engine breathing. Comparable to most simple exhaust and intake mods.

Anthony Woodford 421 Header:
This header from the AWR world challenge protege shows between 8-12whp and 3-10 lb/ft torque gain depending on application.

Injen CAI/Magnecore Wires/Denso Iridium Plugs:
J-spec Sp20 slightly modded baseline. A-spec with comparable mods approx. 3-4whp lower

Custom Cams(High duration + Increased lift), Head and IM PnP, ground wires:
Based upon previous dyno, Note: Cams are very aggresssive, powerband has been pushed beyond usable rpm range. Adjustable cam gears highly recommended.

421 AWR header and header back 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust, note: cam gears are set to 0,0
This graph contains comparisons between the two previous dyno graphs and the current setup.

1st Gen. Protege BP-DE

The first one is my baseline. It's with an OBX muffler, and 16 degrees ignition advance. The red plot is after my exhaust. 2.5" from the manifold back, with mandrel bends, high-flow cat and resonator and a different OBX muffler. As you can see, it only opened it up, up top. I wasn't expecting to gain torque with such large exhaust, but it'll allow for maximum high RPM gains with future mods.

The second one is with 18 degrees ignition advance. As you can see, I got about 1-1.5hp over 16 degrees. What's not shown, is the stock 10 degrees initial advance. 18 netted 7hp throughout the entire rev range over 10.

The third is after the RX7 AFM and pod filter. Dyno tuning was the key here. As you can see, it was 6 runs later than the 11th, which was after ignition timing. We adjusted the Air Flow Meter flapper-door tension, to lean it out. It also revved higher with the RX7 meter for some reason. Please note though, that my car's fuel cut is 7300, we just chose not to run it that high beforehand.
