MZ3 vs. the MSP

pfft....MS3?
:
Mazda 3s
I just had a question as to why the mazda 3 2.3's are running high 15's lows 16's as opposed to MSP's low 15's high 14's. when theres only a 10hp at the crank difference. i understand there are alot of restrictions on this car?

LSD and weigh issues is my guess

well there is really only 200lb weight difference but im sure the lsd helps. just not that much. i bet its that damn gearing issue. i mean, the aussie mz3 runs like a 15.2 stock.

how much does the mazda3 put down to the wheels? the mazdaspeed consistently puts down b/t 150-160whp. 170bhp is underrating the mazdaspeed protege.

the lsd isnt that benificial when dragging, helps on curves and stuff, we break our diffs when we dragg on them, unless you weld them a little strength.

The 3 is putting about 145 to the wheels with a MTX.
15hp and 200lbs can make a big difference on a drag strip. The LSD doesn't hurt, either.

What's the final drive ratio on the MSP? The 3 has a 4.11.

don't forget torque. torque numbers and curves will be different between an N/A and turbo car.

Check the specs , there is no weight difference. Actually a 2.3 sedan weighs LESS than the msp. LSD and it puts more hp and tq to the wheels is why its faster in the 1/4.

s & SP23 MT
4 door - 2,762 lbs
5 Door - 2,826

MSP - 2,843 lbs
