Just get new coils on this puppy, thanks to you guys for pointing them out!

Made it home from my trip and the CEL came on..

this morning the car wouldnt turn over.. jumped it, once it started.. drove to work.. wouldnt start up at 5.. jumped and came home.. at home could not jump it and start it anymore..

went to autozone, got battery tested. battery came back bad.. got new one..

put it in.. have power and lights..

go to turn key.. no turn over, no nothing, no clicks no sounds, no life.. power dims, lights fade and go away, now the car has no power.. nothing, like no battery exists.

let it sit. remove and reseed battery cables.. we have power again all seems well. can repeat process at this point.. turning key drains power car turns off like a light switch and sits dead.. reseed battery and the car has power ..

Jedi Masters.. what say you?(rei)

maybe ur radioactive and when u come near the ignition u short the system! idk man! bad ground?(scratch)

if the battery is new, but the alternator is bad, it attacks the battery. therefore killing it on a drive home..

also, i think your connections might add to your issues.. power/ground on the terms..they need to be tight, tight.. like you can't move them with your hands.. which i've found issues with some people.

check the battery terminals? are they clean?

The negative terminal connector was dirty and i cleaned it.. the weird thing is when i unseed the cable and reseed it on the new battery, the power in the car is just fine as can be.. like a new battery.. which it is.

to be clear, i drove my other car to get this battery. this car has not turned over since this happened and i didnt "drive it home" from autozone. jumping it on the old battery does nothing. puttin in the new battery and turning it on just to the first click brings power and the beeps, i have full headlights.
when i try to turn it over though, all the power fades away and the whole car just goes dark.. no clicks .. no turn over.. its as if the car doesnt have the power to even attempt to turn it over.. i make sure all the extra power draws are off before i try to turn it over (no lights radio etc..)..

reseed the cables, and the power is back, until i turn it over..

Im thinking this radioactive idea is sounding more plausable.. ;)

Would you expect with a bad battery only but a good alternator that when i hook up the new battery for the first time and try to turn the car over if i get headlights i should be able to get some kind of crank sound when i try and turn her over? Instead it just fades away like in one second i have drained the whole battery.. thing is, if i reseed the cables (resetting the circut) then power is back and the battery is acting new and full.. it has had no way to charge right, so it obviously wasnt sucked dry when i put the key in .. but next next time i put the key in, all will be fine, until i try and turn it over....

seriously.. SERIOUSLY sounds like loose terminals.. see if you can move them by turning them w/ your hand.. if so, put a washer in them and tighten back down.

check all of your fuses. see if you didn't blow one.

Sounds like it's the stock alarm playing its dirty game. After you put the new battery in lock and unlock the doors a few times and see if you can start it then.

OMG wow. i totally forgot about the alarm.. good call bro.. i forgot i have a msp.. and didn't know he did too.. ****. you rock.

Alarm

As soon as i read this, i knew it was the alarm. Reset it with your keyless entry a few times, the override, or the car key in the door.

Once again you guys rock.

The fix was to clean the terminal cables and reseed the battery and make sure it was DAMN tight. i then had to reset the alarm a few times and she is up. Glad I didnt get that alternator afterall..(boobs)

Thanks guys, you saved me some bucks..

i would recomend getting new terminals the old ones wont stay tight for long or atleast carry a ten mill wrench in your car so you can go in and loosen the terminals and re tighten them everytime it ***** up and dosent start
