Ok i picked this 03.5 msp up in may, and i am having more problems every week!

My question to all of you is what are my chances that the fallowing problems will be fixed under warrenty...

Problems as first noticed in order
1 week after i bought it, noticed rear clunking noise, sway bar bushings?
then i noticed the Sub is as blown as they get, That covered?
the motor mount HAS to be broken, the motor shifts harder then hell, sounds painful,
the brakes have made noises since the day i bought it, had checked out by 3 independant shops, all say the front has 80/30 wear on the pads, now the pass side is shot horrible grinding, sticking caliper? if so, covered? pads too?

CLUTCH, i know these are a wear and tear item, but at 27k its not sliping but
the problem is, it gets hot within blocks and stays hot, stinks up the whole neighborhood everytime i get home, i have drivin Manual transmissions for 6 years never never had this problem, i know when a clutch is engaged!
but its got an issue!

lights, the headlights dim like every 7 seconds, Music does not sway this.
they just flicker

TURBO, when i first got it, it drove beautifuly, the turbo now feels like its got 377k on it! EXCEPT!... when its cold out. if i get in the car first thing in the morning, start it and take off asap. its faster then snot, but as soon as the car is warmed up there seems to be 0 boost. i mean, when its cold, i can chirp the tires in 2nd and 3rd gear, warms up and i cant chirp the tires going into 2nd on a wet corner!

help me out guys, go over my problems and tell me if the dealership will help. from all of your mazda expieriance am i in for a kick in the wallet?

the car has 27k on it. and i believe i have 8 months of the warrenty left...

Where to start ....

Clunk - common, and yes can be fixed under warrenty ... until it comes back. There is a permanant fix - AXR clunk brackets, or the original Delsing's (I'm selling a set)

Blown sub - covered

Motor mount - covered

Brakes and clutch - nope. These are wear items (gotta bite the bullet)

Lights dimming - I've never gotten more that 2 1/2 - 3 years out of the oem battery. Time for a new one (wear item)

Power problems ... hmmmm ... could be a lot of things. When your car is at the dealer having all the warrenty items fixed, find out if you've been flashed. Also, start with the easy stuff - plugs, wires, boost leaks etc (hrrm - not so easy).

Everything you're having issues with can be fixed! Good luck.

WHat was the milage on it when you bought it? IT may not be the MSP's fault that someone ragged the s*** out of it. Most of you problems are real easy, do it your self fixes. MY car was used and I just did all the small things. like the bushings and motor mounts myself. Someone could have put some hard 20+K miles on it before you.

the power problem could very well just be heatsoak. I know heatsoak is kicking my ass. Time for a FMIC.

here's a tip: don't drive the snot out of the car right after starting it up in the morning or after periods of letting it sit to cool. 1) the oil in the engine is not up to temp, so it is not as viscous as it should be to actually lubricate the bearings in the turbo or the engine. 2) if you don't let the engine cool down after driving it hard, the oil in the turbo will still be extremely hot and has not passed through it yet, which could lead to it coking up in the lines and hardening. you don't want that, otherwise the turbo will seize. what kind of weather do you live in ? heat will kill the stock side mount intercooler, especially if you drive the car hard with the air conditioner on. if the a/c is on, stay out of boost when driving. and when you do have to accelerate hard, turn off the a/c and go (turn it back on when you don't need to). also, avoid pressing the accelerator too hard in 5th gear, this can lead to a blown motor if done too often and too hard.

flickering lights could be due to your battery, alternator, but most likely your battery. check the voltage.

clunking is normal, bushings can be replaced by the dealer.

the blown sub, don't bother getting another one, there are a few aftermarket replacements that fit fine in the stock location (JL audio 8w3v2d2 is one example).

clutch problem, no idea, but will not be covered.

brakes are often an issue with these cars since they sat at the docks before shipping. new blanks and pads will help.

You say lights flickering every 7 seconds? Make sure that this isn't happening only when the A/C is on. The compressor clutch draws enough juice to dim the lights when it kicks on.

If it's hot and humid up there, you're going to notice a huge difference between the morning "kick" and the later power level once the engine has warmed up. A better side mount intercooler or a front mount will make worlds of difference. The factory unit is inefficient and it heatsoaks easily (and takes forever to shed the heat). A better IC helped a bunch for me, but it still won't pull super strong all the time on a hot summer day, so get used to that.

And, how do you know exactly that the clutch is getting hot? Do you get that burned clutch smell or what?

Oh yeah, and put some really good synthetic oil in it. My preference is Redline first and Royal Purple second, but make sure it's got synthetic in it. The water cooled turbo only helps so much.

YOUR CAR IS OVERBOOSTING!!!!, If you can chirp anything but maybe second with a stock setup then there is more than stock boost running through it.

Maybe not. Mine (when stock) would destroy the Potenzas a good part of the way through 2nd and would sometimes chirp 3rd on a cool, dry morning. This was at 5.5-6 psi.

Even weirder, mine was only putting 143 whp on a Dynojet before my mods.

The MSP has more "character" than all the other cars I've owned combined... And I have no desire, whatsoever, to get rid of it. :D

you dont have to have a lota power to chirp the tires. if you rev the engine up and dump it into gear the b**** will chirp.

when i had proxes FZ4 the car was rather easy to spin the tires..... with the yoko AVS, its much harder.
