MS3 Exhaust

Hey quick Q, decided to go with a MS3 exhaust on my MZ3 and delete the second cat. my question is how do i go about removing the stock exhaust with out cutting? i know ill have to drop the rear sub frame but does anyone know exactly how its done? i plan to install the MS3 exhaust when i install my springs. is that a good idea? ive been searching for a good hour now and havent found any good information. reason for not cutting is im on extended warranty, not entirely sure all terms of how the warranty is voided but id still like to know. UNLESS someone knows the exact terms of the warranty and how its works info would be great! (i also searched on that too )

thanks in advanced, PICS WOULD BE AWESOME! (2thumbs)

OEM exhaust systems arent just one welded pipe. There are several different pipes that are bolted together. You shouldnt have to drop the subframe to do an exhaust install...

whoa.. is this true? that would mean everything im reading is wrong? i mean i havent honestly lifted my car to take a look under but all the installs i see of the MS3 requires that you cut the piping right after the 2nd cat to remove.

hum if i dont have to that would be awesome!

thanks for the comment

hes installing the mazdaspeed catback on his MS3, what i think your trying to do, is install a ms3 catback on your regular 3 right?

Hhmm...This is a tough one. If you want to remove your stock exhaust without cutting it, I would recommend taking it to a shop. Its possible but its very difficult to do. The stock exhaust is one long piece and its a bit*ch to get off without cutting it.

man that sucks so i cant safely drop the frame myself? why didnt they just put a damn flange! :(

does anyone know the exact outside diameter of the MS3 piping? i know its less the 2.5" which leads me to believe that its in metrics, which im assuming is probably 60mm. im looking for some couplings to aid in my MS3 exhaust install.

You might still be able too so don't rule it out just yet. I'm just going by my experience with removing my stock exhaust when I had help and from what other members went through. So it is still possible that you can do it yourself but trust it will not be easy. :(

changing your CB exhaust will have ZERO effect on your warranty. The only time exhaust will play any roll on your warranty is if you mess with the DP.

now thats an interesting fact! (shocked) if that is true i have no problem cutting the stock one and welding it back on later if i ever need too!

that would be awesome! (meaning i could have the exhaust install this weekend!)

You should look at the car in question before giving advice on how to work on it.

The MZ3 exhaust has only one flange, and that is where the manifold bolts to the exhaust, right by the engine.

another Q

Im from california which would mean my MZ3 is a PZEV model right?
i havent seen anyone comment anywhere upon this matter, ive seen pics
of the MS3 install on a PZEV model sedan but im not sure if that relates
to my 5door. seems ill need to weld on a O2 bung to the pipe of the MS3 CBE
think ill have any issues with CEL?

damn wish i say this earlier as my exhaust will be here sometime this week

were you planning on doing this yourself?? You may be better off going to an exhaust shop. they really shouldnt charge much to throw this on for you .

after taking my friends vehicle to just get a simple axle back put on and seeing the quality of work, its hard to find a place with quality work that will actually put in an effort and charge a good price.

im going to have to look around for a good place, but most likely ill be doing it all my self with the help of a friend but thats about it

considering the numerous exhaust installs ive done, and amount of cars ive been under, i thought i was making a safe assumption that a modern car would have multiple flanged pipes.

its unfortunate mazda designed the exhaust the way they did.

Yea mazda always like to do against the norm..
