Cosmic Blue MS3 of hawtness!
Do you guys know what's up with this annoying background static I hear when I plug in my Garmin Nuvi into my MS3's aux input? You can really hear it pretty badly, and I would like to get it fixed. Anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks!

Actually, I don't think it's quite this problem. I'm not worried at all about the ALS kicking in. The thing that's bothering me is this annoying static that keeps scratching away in the background. It's rather loud and very bothersome.

questions:

-Are you charging the Garmin while you're using it?
-Does the sound change as you accelerate?
-Does the sound go away if you unplug it, or charge with the engine off?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes then you do indeed need a ground loop isolator. Crutchfield sells a 3.5mm-3.5mm one (read: standard headphone jack) for about $17.
