Motor, transmission and differensial mounts

I went over from a Subaru WRX to the MS6. Although I love the MS6, I miss some of the direct feedback and balance of the WRX.

After installing the SU MM and TWM shifter bushings, I feel I'm one step closer towards a tighter link between me as a driver and the road.

Now I see that, in addition to a rear engine mount, Turbine Tech offers a front engine mount, rear diff front mount, and rear diff bushings. AWR offers left and right engine mounts and a transmission mount... I'm sure someone is going to make some other mounts that are deemed absolutely necessary...

In your opinion, what gives the most "bang for the buck"? Where is the "point of diminishing returns"? What is "need to have" as opposed to "nice to have"?

I do not drive hard in terms of dragracing and frequent track days. My car is a daily driver and most of the time I take it easy, but once in a while I like to have fun on turny roads. I do not mind slight reduction in comfort in term of a little xtra vibration etc., as long as it comes together with significantly more feedback and better response.

What do you think? What are your experiences?

I think the TT front engine mount is what you need next. I have it and the SU rear mount and they completey eliminate the engine flopping around. I also think the rear diff mounts aren't "required" unless you plan to drag race (street or strip...), but you WILL want to crawl under the car and check all the diff mount bolts at every oil change.

mounts arent going to help your situation. you need suspension upgrades.

I partly disagree. from the factory the MS6 is a comfort oriented car. They seemed to have "dulled" a lot of the feedback from the ground and engine by softening up bushings etc. The SU MM for sure helped on this situation, giving me as a driver a much closer feel of what is going on under the hood. It simply gives a more connected feeling. An upgraded suspension will probably halp as well, but for now I'll focus on engine and transmission, and parhaps a swaybar.

What about the transmission and a transmisssion mount? Does the transmission with the stock mounts move around a lot? Will a transmission mount make any difference in terms of feel?

If the TT front engine mount and SU rear mount completely eliminates the engine flopping around, will the side engine mounts be superfluous?

I realize that all the aftermarked mounts in some way or an other are stronger and better than stock, but they are also expensive and usually result in unwanted vibration etc. If they are expensive, result in vibration AND only marginaly improve feel, I'll let it pass for now.

There are no "transmission" mounts per se; rather a transaxle with attached PTO for the rear drive. There are only three OEM mounts for the engine/trans; one at each end under the hood to support the entire engine/trans/PTO assembly and the single rear mount to control torque reactions. The TT front engine mount is an ADDITIONAL fourth mount added to the front side of the engine to the front subframe lateral section.

Absolutely not superfluous. They are required to support the engine. The rear and (added)front mounts surpress torque reaction.

Only you can make the determination as to whether they are worth it or not. You asked for info and received. Have a nut...

Okay, Cheers!

So where does this thing go and what good does it do?:

It is the driver side engine mount and it provides MORE firmness in controlling the engine. I don't think it is needed on a street-driven car. Maybe a track car, but not street.

Also, what is a "PTO"?
Power Take Off. It's the power transfer unit that sends the drive to the rear drive shaft.

With the rear and the added front engine mounts, will it be "less necessary" to replase the side mounts?
Yes, less necesssary to the point of not required...
