Motor stalls when A/C tries to kick in

Hi!
Long time lurker but first time poster so bear with me =P
I have a 2010 Mazda CX9 which just recently started giving problems, specifically the driver's vents wouldn't blow cold air but the rest of them did. Took it to the dealership and they say they fixed the actuator and serviced the A/c as well. Verified with them that the a/c was working appropriately but after picking it up and parking at home, I turn on the motor, turn the a/c and the a/c won't kick in and the motor stalls a couple of times until it stops. I have tried revving the motor but the a/c just barely blows a second to 5 of cold air before dying again, but now it is on the whole vehicle, not only the driver's vents. Confirmed this same situation even when driving on the highway at constant 60 mph. I'd definitively could take it to the dealer but if you guys have experience or ideas I could try I'd definitively prefer to fix it myself if possible.

Thanks a lot!!!

Sounds like a problem with the AC compressor. At idle it's putting so much load on the motor that it stalls out. When you rev the motor it's enough to turn the compressor but the system detects something is wrong so it disengages the AC clutch, which would be why you get AC but for only a short time.

I'd be concerned about what they did when they "serviced" the AC.

I have a 2010 - back in the summer of 2010 I had an issue where if the A/C was on the car would stall when idling (at a traffic light for example). Dealer replaced the throttle body under warranty to resolve the issue, it hasn't happened in the five years since.

Five years ago there were a number of posts with CX-9 owners having throttle body issues; I would do a forum search for more info.

There was a TSB for the issue back in 2010: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/SearchSafetyIssues

Do a search by "ID Number" and search for 10034537

This past few weeks, been having trouble with my 2010 CX9 GT. The engine would turn off while driving. The last time it happened, brought it again to the dealership and they said it's the PCM, so they replace it..at no cost. You guys having the same problem?
