this is an e-mail i got from one of my bosses at about 11:00 today (monday)

I read something the other day that made more sense as I thought about it. I would like each of you to write a personal mission statement similar to what a company would write. Put some thought into it and then just write a paragraph or two describing your professional ambitions and goals. Let me know where you want to be in the company in the near future and at a five year mark. Highlight what you see as your strengths and how these could be used.

Please respond on paper or by email before you leave on Tuesday, 03/02.

here is my e-mail to other employes that got this e-mail also

this report....

come on, this is a little over doing it, at least give us till the end of the week...... are there any problems as it is now?

i don't think she will be too pleased if i put down that in 5 years i want to be out on my own working on getting my company to be sucessful (even though i am sure she will be more happy)....

never mind i am done ranting...

Steve

this boss here has that work method of if it isn't broken, try and make it so you can fix it....

and she hates me as it is because she thinks i got the job only because i am related to the owner... (sadly mistaken because he is a money guy and wont keep you there if you aren't doing a good job)

^^^ That would piss me off  How can they expect you to be honest when writing that crap. If I had to do something like that it would be obvious that I no longer plan on working for this company anymore. Good luck.

im in the construction buisness and it isn't like i have the leisurly time to be able to get a report writen when ever she sees fit just for her own personal gradification....

i don't know how i am going to write this paper with out saying how i truly feel about how "office space" this place is run like.... she loves to try and catch us like we aren't doing something...or when we come in in the morning (she is a clock watcher) she puts a check by our name if we are a few min late or something, same applies to lunch as well.....and i out in about 50 hours a week on average and only get paid for 40 of them... so it isn't like i am not getting all my work i need to done....heck with it

Can you talk to her superior? I don't think this is fair just because she read some article or whatever. She needs to remind herself this is the working world, her college days are over. See if you can get support and backing from your colleagues and make a petition or talk to HR. We did that in an IT dept I worked for at my last job and it helped.

she is the 3rd highest in the company, the other 2 higher ones are the owners (kind of parteners) but i think i know why she is doing this now....she heard rumor that other people there are "looking arround" (because of her) and so she is getting worried....

its still pathetic though, but if i wasn't in a need of this job and i had another one lined up right now, i would put down to take her spot in the next 5 years just to piss her off...

everyone is e-mailing eachother pissed about the idea too....i am so tempted to just ignore the e-mail and be like ...."sorry didn't get the memo" perfect oppertounity for office space humor in the work place
