Might be buying a 89 Mazda 626 turbo

they are great cars, fantastic engines. if your engine blows then source a FE3 (FE DOHC) it is the best (if not one of the best) mazda 4 cylinder engines ever made and will fit into your 626gt.

i actually have a fully built fe3 swapped 90 626gt. turbonetics turbo, MS tuned, LSD, all the basic's. i believe im the only 626gt that has the fe3 swapped. all the others are mx6/probe swaps i believe.

have fun with the 626. with only an intake, exhaust, intercooler and tune you will spank the vast majority of cars on the road in your $150 car. Also the vj-17 turbocharger that is found in MANY junkyards can be used to create a hybrid with the stock VJ-11 if you are looking for more top end. The VJ-11 is very small. (much smaller than T25 etc)

The whole story is if you want to get a FE3 then you will need to go standalone as you will not be able to run the FE3 on the stock wire harness. Also you can get a FE3 out of the 1998 kia sportage. But the turbo version of the REAL FE3 you have to source that from over seas and good luck with that one.

there is no such thing as a factory turbo FE3. there's just low compression version, and high compressin versions. people used to say mazda built 3 turbo fe3's for there rally team at the time, but not a single picture has even been seen. so its totally guessing they were ever made. there was NEVER a factory optioned turbo fe3.
