Methanol/Water, Alky Injection Experiences..

OMG 5 gallons....seems like a lot of extra fluid to lug around. I rather just fill the washer tank and call it a day. I found some HEET before I left town at the NAPA store. Im again really looking forward to getting something like this setup. My cold pipes actually are REALLY hot to the touch. I mean REALLY hot specially after running the car for part of the day.

well you sir better make sure your pump got fluid, because if you placed the tank lower than the pump, it takes forever to make injection occur. Most likely your pump arnt pumpin anything. as it doesnt syphon well

are you touching the pipes right after you turn the car off? becuase if you touch it then they should be cool but the more you let it sit the hotter they are going to get because of the high temps in your engine bay

do some searching ive made like 2 or 3 threads about my experiences with meth injection. most important part is the controller as without it you will be running suboptimal 90% of the time in boost after the pump has activated. I use a GM 3 bar map sensor with my homemade controller but odds are you haltec should be able to control everything, just not sure how as ive never used a haltec before.

you do not control the aem kit it comes with its own progressive controller. it controls everything to do with the pump and how much its spraying. that kit has a lot of saftey/warning features as well thats why im getting it

Yeah, I would need some type of progressive controller. Looking at the Haltech E6X, it doesn't have enough control, and from what I've read on the Haltech forums, the folks at Haltech don't believe in meth/water injection.

I've seen a lot of HFS-V systems around with the high flow valves. The advantages to these systems are that they have a better response time for a progressive system than just modulating the speed of the pump motor (harder to change the speed of the rotational inertia of the pump). The separate valve controls the change in flow, a lot faster. I've come to the conclusion that I don't need one of those unless I'm planning making some big power (like 450+ WHP).

The AEM would be good, as it has it's own progressive controller, and has an additional output to either decrease ignition timing or boost if the system detects low fluid levels or a system error. I'm thinking if I buy the Labonte BBK (Boost Bypass Kit), and wire the error output into the BBK, that would take care of safegarding. I would also want some type of flow sensor that has an output too. The only two things that I believe are lacking with the AEM kit is a Boost Bypass Valve, and a flow sensor. It has everything else. The other couple of things can be had for not much more.

Wait, AEM has a solenoid that you can source to handle the Boost Bypass:

AEM Part Number: 30-2400

The downside, is that on the AEM website, that sucker is $106

From what I am reading, the AEM Boost Solenoid and the Labonte Motorsports Boost Bypass kit will do the same thing. Both are triggered by a 12 volt signal.

The BBK from Labonte is a total of $45.91 shipped.

Damn dude, you are an O.G. of methanol injection around here....

If you can share your experiences here in this newer, more recent thread. (thumb)

Attempting to acquire either some 06 USDM WRX 565 fuel injectors or the JDM STi Pink 550cc before I do this.

Part numbers for refference:

JDM STi "Pinks" -
Subaru WRX STi JDM "Pink" Injectors 565cc 16611AA510

USDM INjectors -
Subaru WRX 2006 565cc Injectors USDM 16611AA720
YOur welcome for those BTW.

The thing is that it really isn't that much stuff. When you do it, you want to make sure that you have safegards in place that will protect your motor if the system fails.

Just installed the AEM water injection system a couple of days ago. At what boost level should the system start injecting water? I have it set at about 2.5 psi

What do you like about it? detonation protection for 12+psi

What do you NOT like about it? takes up space if you don't run the full line to the trunk

What gains have you seen from running it? 11-12 afr

Who tuned it your system? me-me-me-and a friend

What EMS? MPI

Which kit do you have, and how much was it? snow performance

now, will this effect the MS3 diferantly due to DISI, i doubt it but its always good to ask.. also would you install this after the turbo before the intercooler or directly in front of the TB?

right before the throttle body. or you could do individual ports and put one nozzle on each runner of the intake manifold.

BUMPAGE...any news Pat did you do this or not? I JUST picked up more line so that I can run the meth from the trunk to the front of the car. Just have the pump and tank in for now.
