Me and my Black P5 say 'Hello'. (Not 56k Friendly)

Just thought I'd say a little hello and introduce myself.

My car and I live in sunny, rainy, windy, snowy and icy PEI, Canada.

We bought our 2002 in June 2001 and it has been a great little car for the most part. Could use a little more kick, but works well as a grocery-getter and even better out on the highway.

I need some steering work done soon and came here looking for info on that. Though I gotta say this is a great place for loads of other information too. Particularly the P5 rust issues.

Anyway, not the best of pictures, but here she is. Nice and salt free. (cabpatch)

Welcome to the forum! You'll find tons of info and plenty of helpful people here! Is your P5 a manual? How many miles? What's the steering work you need to get done? We're all ears (hear ya) and glad to have you!

THanks for the welcome.

No, it is automatic. I've always prefered to let my cars do the work.

Miles. Good question.....About 61,000 kms (about 40,000 miles maybe?)

It is May now and I've given it some good washes to get the winter off. Looking forward to giving it a complete going over. With the summer wheels and tires, this is a sharp looking car.

You know, I'm not at all sure what is going on with the steering. I noticed a few weeks ago that I was leaking something. So I took it in thinking it was the transmission. But turns out it is the power steering. My car is still under warranty (till June 8th) and was told that a new PS pump was being ordered and should be a week for delivery. Exactly a week later the service manager called saying that my warranty work was JUST approved and a new steering rack was on the way. Should be here any day now. Though I'm quite confused at being told two different things. Though I guess since the warranty is almost up that this is a bit of a good thing. We'll see.

Thought I'd add a few more pics. I enjoy seeing other peoples' cars, hope yous enjoy seeing mine.

Shortly before your warrenty expires, you should ALWAYS go get it checked out by the dealer, so any little thing they can do under warrenty, will get done.

lol at the last picture. You sure that isn't a freakin' SUV under all that snow? :D

Black P5s ftw, and welcome!

Black P5s ftw, and welcome!

just had to put that in. Reminds me of the Mutt-Cutts van from Dumb and Dumber.

Lots of snow and ice this winter in Eastern Canada. Really made a mess of my car. Including the tail light that my old man whacked with the shovel. You can't see it, but there is a big hole in the tail light on the other side. Happened about 5 minutes before the pic was taken. (lol2)

Way ahead of you. Though I am running out of time. Went in and talked to them about my steering rack a few hours ago and my appointment is on May 21st. Sucks only having a small dealership.

Though I didn't buy the car from this place so I plan to drive the 4 hours to New Brunswick and take it there for my final service. This car is our 5th of 6 Mazdas from there so I suspect they'll do good by me. Though I have a feeling that I might be driving away with Mazda #7 instead. (bowdown)

Welcome, and holy snow! I hope I never have to see that white stuff again! That pic brings back bad memories lol.
