Mazdaspeed exhaust sound clips

oh, this is NOT the sound clip of the Mazdaspeed Protege the car, this is just the sound of the Mazdaspeed exhaust muffler that's sold as an add-on to existing Proteges.....

That sounds very nice, noticably deeper than the MP3 exhaust. I'd definately have to hear it in person. If you want to hear a mean exhaust, you should hear Wheelguru's JIC Titanium

seeing is believing...

I just got my Mazdaspeed exhaust yesterday. It's for the sedan, so the end pipe is longer than the P5's. It has a nice 'Mazdaspeed' logo etched on the side of the tip :)

here's a pic of the exhaust/muffler

I'll try to record a sound clip of my own when I have it installed later this week....

ZoomZoomH,

where did you purchase it? how much? Part #?
Sorry if asking too many questions.

I got it at my local Mazda dealer, Brown's Fairfax Mazda in Fairfax, VA.

I bought it at Mazda MSRP, $220 :(. But I got it in 3 business days, so I don't mind paying a bit more for fast delivery :)

part number for the sedan exhaust is 0000-8M-C09

good luck

oh ok.. so thats the same ones on the performance brochure and the same one on the MP3's.. I thought this would be different. Or the mp3's have different axel backs??? me confused even more now.. grrrrrrrrr... someone show me the light!!! ( how corny ).. LOL... but I am confused.

Thanks

this is NOT the same one on the MP3... this one is a straight through design muffler, while the MP3 muffler is a chambered design muffler.

more specifically (and this is probably what's getting you confused), there are TWO mufflers available from the dealer for the SEDAN:

The MP3/Racing Beat muffler, part number 0000-8M-C08.

The Mazdaspeed muffler (the one I got), part number 0000-8M-C09

This one has 'Mazdaspeed' etched on the exhaust tip, and the exhaust tip is at least 4 inch in diameter.

IMO this one is a much better looking muffler than the MP3 muffler. Probably a lot louder too :)

got it now? :D

Great, thanks for clearing up my head.. I guess off to the dealer
and order me one up. Now i'm excited again. Damn I really hate
(love) this board.. keeps giving me MORE reasons to MOD up the
car.. :D

Can anyone compare this exhaust to the MP3 Racing beat exhaust as far as sound goes?

From the sound files it sounds a little meaner, but if I park my car in the garage and rev it like that it sounds a lot like those sound files... so is there a real difference?

got mine installed!

ok this post is not about the sound of the exhaust, but I just got it installed today and figure I would show off my new toy to everyone :D

and now, here are some pics :D

this is the stock muffler:

stock muffler removed, side to side with the Mazdaspeed muffler:

Mazdaspeed muffler installed:

Just so everyone that is considering buying the muffler knows, as you can see in this picture, the muffler fits PERFECTLY to the sedan's exhaust cutout on the stock rear bumper.

closer look at the exhaust tip:

a shot of the 'Mazdaspeed' etching on the tip:

and a full rear shot of the car with the muffler:

Sounds nice. What's it do to power?

butt dyno says not much, if anything :(

but the car is downshifting less now (I got automatic) during acceleration, maybe due to slightly increased torque/hp?

really can't tell any difference.... more of a sound/look mod....
