"i have under 18k miles on my ms protege 03.5. everytime i come to a rolling stop i hear a noise from my front wheels or axles. its is like a grinding noise, it only happens when i and laying on the brake lightley. the best way to describe the noise is when your braking on snow. its that grinding sound. its not too loud but noticable. i brought my car to my friends shop and he checked the brakes, rotors, tire air pressure, and everything to do with the front tires."

this has been noticed by numerous mazdaspeeders... anyone know what the deal is?

I have no idea what it is, but I just noticed it as well. I had a set of blizzak tires/steel wheels on until yesterday, then I switched back to the stock wheels/tires last night. As soon as I took the car out I noticed it making the dragging sound you described. I check everything out on the car, and it all looks fine. I just assumed it was muffled by the steelies and I can just hear it now, but the more I think about it the more it bugs me. I don't think it was there before the steelies. Have you been running snows?

I kinda sounds to me like the noise your rotors make when they're a little rusty from sitting to long and you're first cleaning them off with the pads. Sounds like a normal braking sound, but 3 times louder than it should be. Is this what you are hearing as well?

got it too. Now way to descibe it for me, but it sounds like absolute ******* s***. Need to replace my wastegate hose and take car in for that, and I'm still seeing coolant.
