Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

Thanks for the quick reply raspykart.....regarding the rear A/C vents you mentioned, a friend of mine stated that these are only able to blow cold air, not hot (when the heat is on)....can you confirm this? I still can't believe that in a 2010 model vehicle an MP3 capable CD player isn't standard (you'd have to purchase the NAV option in order to get this).

in my '09, the rear vents only blow cold when the heat is on.
as regards the 2010's, they are a great deal; MSRP is the same as '09, but w/ DSC and TC. I only got the '09 because I got a good deal and DSC wasn't something I needed/wanted.

Just purchased the Mazda 5 GT

Just came home from buying the MAZDA 5 GT from dealership for $28,945 CDN...deal on the MAZDA website was $30,866, so I think we did pretty well.

Thanks to GM for shutting down their Saturn division, I got terrible trade-in value on my 2001 Saturn L200 (with Leather - only 110,000 KM )...but I don't have the time/patience to sell it privately.

My only complaint during the test drive (a GS model) was the road noise....can anyone comment on the GT road noise....I think they would be even worse due to the larger wheels....am I correct?? Other than this...a fantastic ride!!!!

I pick up the new microvan in 3 days or so!

FWIW, the L series trade in value was already in the gutter because they stopped making that model a few years ago, and it didn't even sell that well when new.
and yours was 8 years old, after all.
I traded in a saturn also, a '04 VUE 5 speed. I only got $4K for it (KBB was showing $5K) but I avoided the hassle of selling it privately.

Saturn trade-in

KBB was showing $3700 CDN for my 2001 Saturn L200 and I only got $1350 trade-in value when I bought the MAZDA5 yesterday.

around here, the dealers like using recent auctions as a trade in value. of course, the auctions are always a lower figure than KBB or edmunds. unfortunately, nobody wants the L series (I had one, a 5 speed '02. but I only leased it for 3 yrs, didn't have to worry about trade in.)

FWIW, I have never traded a car. I always sell mine privately, each one has sold to the first person looking. The key is knowing the local value, keeping service records and making it presentable for potential buyers. With the internet, it is easier than ever to sell privately. I have had success with both Autotrader and Craiglist. On a few occaisions I doubled the dealer's offer by selling on my own.

...It's now in my driveway!!!

Picked up the new 2010 Mazda5 from the dealership tonight!!! Was happy and surprised that there were only 6KM on the vehicle when I picked it up....I had read some forum stories of 100km-200km for brand new vehicles at pick-up time. They also gave me a bottle of red wine and threw in a paint touch-up pen for my vehicle. I would tell anyone looking to purchase a Mazda to check out Avante Mazda in Richmond Hill (just north of Toronto...on Yonge St. between Major Mackenzie and Elgin Mills).

Got our Mazda5 tonight!

Got our Red Mica 2010 Mazda5 GT (Manual Transmission) tonight.

Got 2000$CAN cash back for our 2002 Honda Civic with 220,000km on it no A/C

Leasing the Mazda 5 for the next 4 years.

535.00$CAN per month.

Got the Warecare as we have a 3-year-old and a 4 month old.

LOVE every bit of this car's features!

Congrats man, you'll be pleased... mileage should be better than EPA... so far ours has been better and similar to our 2007 mazda 5. Road noise is the same, if its any concilation I'm not confident that the $30k honda van is any better for road noise. One other notable upgrade on the US 2010's is heated side mirrors, not sure they were offered on 09's.

Just picked up a leftover 2009 Sport 5 spd, no options in Boston area. $14900 + trade in (a 12 year old Volvo with almost 200,000 miles on the clock) + TTL.

thats a great deal! I got my leftover '09 5speed last month or so, $16490, and they gave me $4K for my VUE, so I'm on the hook for just $12490. it was the last one within 250 miles.
enjoy it, I look forward to driving ours whenever I can.

I hope this is the right place to ask. Can anyone give me their thoughts ... we are in the Maritimes.

We are looking at a Silver '06 GT with 22,000 kms at a large Mazda dealership and we're down to $15,995.

Also looking at another '06 GT with 88,000 kms (a reputable used car dealer) and they are not budging past $13,995.

Thanks!

This past summer, we tried to purchase a silver 06 GT with 28000 km. It was a 5spd with cloth, no nav, but had a cd changer and all GT options.

Dealer was asking 18995 and would not move off of 17000 + taxes.

Had a q-panel scrape and wheel rash, no factory warranty and the auto-close did not work on one of the sliders.

Bought an 07 GT 5spd with 18000km and warranty for 16700+tax from a BMW dealer. Lovin' it.

Go for the 22k model. Pay the price but negotiate dealer accessories if at a mazda dealer. (roofrack, winter tread/wheels)

an 06 for 18,995... did ya ask him for some of the crack cocaine he was smoking? (lol) (cabpatch)

Peace!(rei)

Did the best we could and came out with a brand new:
2010 Mazda5 GS
aluminum metallic
auto, A/C
comfort package (got it mainly for the DSC and TCS)

$26,500CAD taxes all in.
:)

It was between this or a 2009 GT for the same price. In the end we chose the GS because I would rather give up a bit of the sporty appearance and moonroof for added safety with the DSC and TCS.
