Mazda Releases '20th Anniversary' Special Edition Roadster in Japan

It looks pretty, but as far as I can read, it's nothing more than a standard MX5 with heated Recaro seats and a few cosmetic enhancements.

What sours it for me is the automatic tranny in the hardtop version. That's the one I'd pick. I had the automatic in my first miata, a '95, and didn't like it. It was a great car, except for that. I had the 2006 Sport with a six speed and found the tranny was not as smooth as the one in the RX-8. I liked it, though. It's tempting me. I guess I'd better stick with my little '90, though. My wife would kill me, if I brought home another toy, right now. It's a good thing they aren't offered here.....yet.

You should try driving an automatic if you haven't yet.....
Actually a tick or 2 quicker than the 6 speed, in the twisties it responds very well, you don't have to use the paddles if you don't want to just +-the shift knob. (drive2)
Had one on my a$$ on Wayah Rd last year, I was able to keep him at bay but I left 5000 miles of my tires out there trying...... 170hp vs 140hp in my 10AE

about time
I guess it's the bad economy that caused them not to go ballin like they did with the 10AE

10AE FTW!!! 20AE FTL! :D

I haven't tried a car with the paddles, yet. If that gives more control over the automatic, and I assume it does, that would eliminate my concerns. I hated going through curves and have the automatic shift at the wrong time. It could throw off one's performance. Not that I'm a racer; but, I didn't feel safe when that thing would shift at the wrong time. I'll have to try one.
