Mazda i-ELOOP Capacitor longevity?

In general, (not specific to i-ELOOP), super capacitor is more reliable than comparable battery.
Longevity in term of charge/discharge times is much better than battery, lithium or NiMH.
Don't know about failure rate of itself since it is new.

The kind of capacitor they are using have an average usable lifespan of 10-15 years so unless you plan on keeping the car for a very long time you should be ok, even so a replacement shouldn't be all that expensive.

I think it is neat that it is made of coconut shells and tinfoil! Mazda says it is designed to last the life of the vehicle. This design was chosen because it is lighter, cheaper, and greater longevity than a battery.
