Guide: Mazda Firmware Update Information

I've been having zero issues with iOS 18. Both my iPhone 13 and now 16 have worked without issues.

Just offering a positive data point.

What kind of issues are people seeing with iOS 18? I’m on 18.2.1 and .324A and haven’t had anything out of the ordinary happen. My GPS is horrible on this phone, and was on iOS 17 as well.

I’m on 70.XXXX and when I upgraded the phone to iOS 18 I could no longer get iMessages to show in the screen and while listening to radio or USB, if a phone call came through, after the call, the left audio channel remained muted. Turning off the car or unplugging the phone restored that. I use cable for connect, same issues with Bluetooth but obviously can’t unplug, have to disconnect and reconnect.

I had issues with iOS 18 and taking calls when Apple Maps was navigating. It would crash back to the Mazda infotainment screen. Or then after updating to iOS 18.2, activating Siri would crash the system with Mobile Device IO error. After updating to 74.00.324_NA, it seems to have fixed the Siri and taking calls while navigating issues.

My understanding is that you can. Keep in mind you will lose Japanese radio stations if you choose to go that route (due to frequency differences).
Hi @Candurin, in my case, I live in Europe… I want to update from a North American version to a EU version on a 21 CX5 GT(US import) w the new gen infotainment system. Will this work? Thanks.

Unfortunately you cannot change regions with the new units yourself. I say that because there are some places online (I haven’t looked into it) that can change the regions for you for a fee. The older (6th) gen could be done with a simple FW change.

I've been having issues with Android Auto recently on 2019 CX5 GT (not sure when it started because I thought it was the cable initially and ignored it). My FW is 74.00.324 NA N already. I tried with two phones Galaxy S23 Ultra and Pixle 7 Pro and none of them worked. After connecting via USB, I get the pop-up that says "To use Android Auto, stop the vehicle when it is ...." but nothing happens on my phones after that (phone does show Android Auto connected, but the infotainment system still shows "To use Android Auto, stop the vehicle when...")
Region: US
Everything was working perfectly until a few weeks ago, so I guess this should be due to a software update. Any thoughts?

Typically, most people will perform these firmware updates in conjunction with an Android Auto Apply CarPlay retrofit kit, which can be purchased or ordered from any Mazda dealer. However, these firmware updates may also resolve certain bugs and glitches in previous versions, and may also improve overall performance of the infotainment system.
