Hi Everyone!

I've recently bought my first Mazda (Mazda CX-7 2008) and I can't wait to drive it around. The previous owner had the battery replaced which resulted the computer to reset. We brought the car to do a Smog Test which is required to register the title, but even though the car passed everything, the computer was not ready yet, so the car failed. I've be told at the service that the computer needs to re-learn, so I need to drive around. I've put like 50 miles in the car (highway, city), brought the car back, but the computer was still not ready.

Does anyone know how long does it take for the computer to relearn? The mechanic said that for same models it can take up a few hundred miles (boom04)

Big thanks,
Will

depends on drive cycles. What is classified as a drive cycle? Your guess is as good as any. It's kinda of combination on how many times the car is started & shut off & the mileage in between. Each car is different. Seeing how this thread is nearly a month old, you probably have it figured out by now. Your best bet is to drive it around for a few hundred miles or a few weeks depending on how you drive. If you're curious, you could pick up a scan gauge & it'll tell you exactly when the car is ready for smog/e-check.
