Mazda CX-5 performed best (among 20 tested) under the new IIHS side impact test. 80% more impact energy than before

I was surprised by how poorly Honda HR-V performed under the new test.
The B-pillar tore away from the bottom structure.
 
Wish it would of shown more - CR-V, Rav-4, Hyundai's, etc.
It's almost like it was comparing the CX-5 to the HR-V which isn't a good comparsion.

Yes, that chart is much better. Would of still liked to see the CR-V and a few others get T-Boned.
 
A T-bone, well done. For all concerned, I hope it is a rare occurrence.

 
Everytime I see something like this, I pat myself on the back for buying our CX-5! I have never read a review that didn't place the CX-5 at, or right below, the top. We are smart buyers, aren't we. And safe buyers, too.
