Mazda 3 reliability? Worth spending more coin on my mazda?

2006 Mazda 3s
I've got a 2006 mazda3s 2.3L sedan. Very minimal rust - i'm going to fix before winter hits.
It's currently just over 150k and it's 95% stock. (As far as I'm aware, the previous owner washed it every week and didn't ratbag it.)

Not looking to do much engine work mechanically, but looking at a few corksport modifications. Lowering springs for next spring, exhaust, cold air intake, sway bar, mudflaps, and that's already putting me at a grand not to even mention some new rims.

My deal is, will my car flake out before I can resell it, or should I abandon ship now and upgrade my ride?

How well it holds up is directly related to how well it was maintained. For example, if the trans fluid was never changed, expect a big repair bill, soon. Certainly, there are many Proteges and 3s out there with over 200,000 miles on the odo.

i had an 03 protege 5 that was running great at 173k miles and i got hit and it totaled the car, that was a very reliable solidly built car. they will last a long time if maintained. my dad had a 626 that went well over 200,000. the protege 5 was his before i bought i from him he owned it from 05 until 2013 it was so good i got an 08 mazda 3 and after 6 months its been a great car

You'll be fine as long as it's well taken care of. Even the best cars will turn to s*** if abused.
