So I've been wanting to get an exhaust for my 3 for awhile. I've researched it on many forums, but they weren't to informative, if you know what I mean(ie, sound clips, movie file, pics). I went down to (here comes the plug, see below):

Finishline Radiator A/C & Muffler
259 N. Sierra Ave.
Oakdale, CA 95361
(209) 848-COOL (2665)

I got my OEM 2 inch pipe upgraded from the resonator on, yes I kept the oem resonator, well at least for now, might go down Tuesday and get a magnaflow magpack, not sure yet. Getting back to the point, they upgraded the piping from the resonator on to 2.25". I went to a couple of other muffler shops and they said that they could not the muffler I wanted to fit in. I went to the above shop, they customize in doing cat back exhausts and they made it fit and it looks great. They took there time and trimmed the ring on the bumper valence so the exhaust would look cleaner and I am quite pleased.

Attached you will find a few pics and a link to the .mov file.

.mov file link:

Any questions, just PM me or reply back. If someone could host the .mov file that would be great, since www.yousendit.com is limited to 25 people viewing it then I would have to upload the file again and insert the new link.

Peace,
Los.

P.S. For those of you with a full audio system hooked up to your computer, becareful with the .mov file, it gets deep.

Hey man that sounds FREEKIN SWEET!!!!! You got me thinking about doing that to my 3. Hows the performance after that? I hope its as good as it sounds.n (rockon)

Well the exhaust is still new and it is bedding in if you will. So give it 100 miles and I'll now for sure. But I am most likely going back tuesday and getting the oem resonator removed and getting the magnaflow magpack put in place and filling in the rest from the cat 2.5" then the magpack and then 2.25" to the rest of the piping that is already now 2.25".

Results so far as follows, when regularly driving it has a nice deep sound to it, but when you step on it you hear a mass rush of air just flowing thru. If your above 5k rpm's it is quiet for the most part and below that it has a nice throaty deep sound. We'll have to see what happens after next tuesday.

On my Mazda 3 the top end has always been pretty good, just needed hep down in the lower rpm's below 5k or so and with the exhaust now it pulls stronger down low and the transition from the low to mid to high rpm's now seem a real good blend. I'll keep you guys posted as to how tuesday goes down.

Peace,
Los.

Well it sounds nice but thats how my mazda speed exhaust sounded when you rev it. Reving sounds a lot more different than actually driving though. Try doing drive byes because once the car warms up the exhausts sound like a bee. Do you have an intake yet?

I bought the mazdaspeed exhaust from the dealership. It cost around $200.00. I bought the one off of a mazdaspeed protege. I had it fabricated onto my car but the exhaust didnt sound good at all once the car warmed up. It sounds sweet when you rev it up after the car is warmed up but as you drive it sounded like a fart can. I dont have an intake yet (waiting on K&N to give me one for letting them borrow my car for the prototype). I had it taken off since the sound was really ugly. I will try again once I get my intake put on. I had the muffler shop chop out my old muffler and replaced it with the mazdaspeed exhaust leaving the stock piping in. I had the old tip replaced with the mazdaspeed tip with the logo. The way our car is setup in the back is so tight back there that it is really difficult to even put a decent bent pipe back there.

not bad and not ricy at all....nice setuf for a nice price
(cheers)
