MAF Check engine

Is the MAF sensor the same on the MS3 as the regular 2.3L? i have a check engine light and the dealer wanted 275.50 for a new MAF i saw a regualr 2.3L MAF fo 80.00... Does anyone have this problem? is it shot or can i Clean it?

there is no reason for them to charge you. I would try cleaning it before spending 275 on a new one. It should be covered under waranty anyway

Try cleaning carefully with MAF cleaning spray...reset ECU and you should be good to go...how is the car running currently?

I had my MAF replaced...thankfully at the time I had the MS CAI so it was replaced no questions asked. But, I asked the service guy what would happen if I had had another intake...not Mazdaspeed brand. He said they wouldn't be able to work on it and I'd have to come back with a stock airbox or mazdaspeed part.

I really doubt the aftermarket intake 'caused' it to go bad, its them just trying to cheat you out it. They have to prove that the aftermarket intake was directly responsible for causing the problem. Easiest way is just bring it in with the stock airbox
