Lumbar Support

I end up with a back pain if I sit for long in a seat without lumbar support. Prior to owning CX-5, I had a Accord and I always set the lumbar support to 'full' and it served me well. One of my complaints with CX-5 is that the lumbar support doesn't extend enough to my liking, even in it's max setting. This is a problem because I spend approximately 2 hours daily in the car.

I tried couple of cushions from Amazon, but they were too wide to fit properly in CX-5's seat. Had to return both.

Have any of you experienced this problem? If so, how did you get around it? Any recommendations for after market lumbar support products that fit reasonably well in CX-5 driver seat?

I'm 6'-04" and like a lot of lumbar support too. I think the CX-5 lumbar support might just be designed for an average sized person without a lot of butt cushion because it felt a little low to me when new. But I think as my seat wears in (25,000 miles so far) the lumbar support is working better for my tall frame because I'm settling into the seat more. Most serious motorcyclists that I know have custom saddles built for them by a specialist. It's generally around $600-$800 but worth it if you spend long hours in it. You might want to consider the same thing if you don't want to wait for your seat to wear in.

My wife have the same problem with back and also neck, she is about 5' 1" and had complained about not enough of lumbar support on the lower back and neck, Im looking for a good back pillow and neck pillow to help her with the problem... would also love to hear if anyone have any recommendation for pillows!

I remember, somebody on this forum did a diy, about extending the lumbar support, but you will have to take the seat apart.

I bought one from eBay for $11. It is great. I drove for 6 hours and I had no back pain. These come with elastic band on the back but it is too short so I had to attach more length to it to fit on cx5 seat.

Thank you. If you don't mind, could you please share a pic of your seat with this installed?

Thanks. Any way to make it look flush with the seat back when not in use?

I have a bad back and had problems with the built in lumbar support. I tried a few different ones but really like and continue to use one called "Kiss my Back" got it for $10 at bed bath and beyond. it's just a simple mesh one and although it doesn't look like it should help it's the best $10 bucks i've ever spent.

I have herniated disk, at my lower back and I'm fine with the factory one. The problem is, that it is broken and it won't extend at all. It is all the way in.

I wish this thing did have more lumbar support. I have issues because of it on LONG trips. I thought all vehicles had adjustable lumbar support. Turns out, I thought wrong. This thing has zero, and it's not adjustable.

I wonder if the manual adjustable lumbar version doesn't have as much travel as the electric version in the GTs? Subjective for everyone but I find travel in mine more than adequate. The air bladder version in my Infiniti I find highly inadequate.

After opening the back of the seat, this is what I have found:
Our lumbar support:

Broken off shaft, from that lever.
