Lowered springs rubbing, squeaking, rattling

I just installed a set of coil-overs and when I move the steering back and forth, they make a clunking noise. After a week of driving it got worse. The top of the strut shows obvious friction damage. I lubed the top of the coilover and took it for a drive. The steering was lighter and less noise. What gives? I made sure the painted part of the strut points at 10 o'clock on passenger side and 2 o'clock on drivers. Help, I hate rattles!!!!

So this is typical behaviour from coil-over suspension setup? It doesn't look dangerous, just poor engineering.

i had skunk2 coilovers, but got sick of the popping sound. I had no idea that the handling and ride quality would suck so bad also. I have since upgraded to spool springs and the handling is off the scale now. I upgraded to 18s and with the springs and wheels, my P5 handles the way i wanted it too. I have heard the only way to keep from getting the pop, is to go with an all-in-one system like JIC or Tein, but too much money for me.:) :D
