Well i'm currently driving a rx8, but looking into getting a mazda3. I'm looking into getting an 07+ due to the different tail lights than '06 and below lol =p Any problems i should look out for? Looking for a black 3 (can't decide between hatch or sedan) with sunroof, would prefer cloth interior, but i wouldnt mind leather. Any idea on how much that would cost me? And when going to see/test drive the car what are things i should look out for? Thanks in advance.

If I were you, I would go with the Hatchback. Plenty of space and, it comes with the 2.3L. Also, the hatchbacks are worth more than the sedans. Find one in the Grand Touring since they come with heated leather (front), Bose and Xenon lights. Oh yeah, the hatchbacks come with sunroofs. Black? I hope you are 100% wanting a black car since black, white and red are the worse to keep clean. LOL
If you test drive one, make sure you hit it kinda hard. That way, you will be able to tell if it has any problems. Also, get a carfax report. As for trouble, I really have not had any with my '08 GT Hatchback. I always use PLUS fuel. I use 3 qts of Mobil 1 Synthetic and one container of BG MOA ( http://www.bgprod.com/products/engineoil.html ). I go over 10k miles before I change the oil in my car. A guy that works for me has an SVT Focus and hates it when I drive along with him. My auto trans Mazda 3s can take off quicker than his 6 speed Focus. LOL Of course, he can out run me since he has many mods on his Focus vs what my Mazda has.
The Mazda 3 Hatchback is just too cool of a vehicle to drive and own.

I would go with the hatchback as well, but I would stay away from the automatic transmission. I have an 07 3 Hatch with the automatic transmission and have had the transmission warrantied once already and it still doesn't shift very well. Mine is an S Touring model and does not have the sunroof, leather, or premium sound system. Other than the transmission being a pile of crap, I love the car. I would stick with a manual if I had the choice again. Oh and I bought my car new and I am not terribly hard on it. The only engine mods I have are a Corksport SRI and the throttle-body ground.

alright thanks you two. not really a fan of hatches to be honest which is why i considered the sedan. but after seeing some pics on here of the hatches, and seeing a couple in person on the road. it's like whoaa. i did the same reaction when i first saw the rx8 (and now i own one). well i just gotta find a buyer for my 8. i'll most likely go with an 06+ mazda3. ....hopefully. yeah i really like black. is the mazda3's black hard to keep clean, since it's a mica paint? our black pickup truck doesnt get that dirty.

i have a 2008 3s touring sedan, it's cool but i regret not getting a hatch when i had the chance. my only problem with the sedan is the rattling rear plastic deck due to my sub, it can be fixed but its not too easy lol.
I have and 06 3 hatch with 80k on it, lowering springs, rims tires and modded stereo. its just the touring nothing special. but i put about 300 miles on it a week change my oil every 3k and i drive it like i stole it. I personaly have not had any issues with it. i dont know of any one that has as many miles on theres as i do mine, but i have a friend who is a manager at a service department at a dealer and he checks EVERYTHING EVERYTIME i bring it in for an oil change. NO issues. i would recomend the hatch as well, its not fast but its fast enough to piss off a good amount of jack a**'s on the road that think its modded. the sedans look ok but as stated before they are 2.0's and not 2.3's
