LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

anyone running closed loop? Advantages/disadvantages?

I am looking at hooking up my new PLX M300 (with Bosch sensor) to the haltech for closed loop. I am also trying to determine if I should run both the stock O2 sensor and the Bosch and use the bosch as all the data inputs to the haltech, (or have have the haltech see the stock o2 sensor, and get the same input as the ECU), or run the bosch in place of the stock sensor.

Not yet. I've been meaning to get around to hooking up the J&S Safeguard, and one of my O2 sensors but have not found the time. Closed loop can be done with your stock O2. The closed loop mode is not used for auto-tuning, but rather for fuel efficiency, and drivability.

Ok, so yesterday I did some tuning of my fuel map (in 3D) around the boost threshold (above, below, and at 0 PSI). Leaned it out some. I must say the car is more responsive, and pulls a lot better down low. I noticed that every since I loaded up that new HalwinX version 1.23 software, my Haltech temp sensors (coolant and air) are a lot more responsive. The temp readings are noticably lower, especially when I start the car up. When I start the car, the temps are close to like 0 C when it is like in the 60's F outside. Not sure what happened. I was running version 1.2 before. Also, Ahmad (Elemental59437) was running version 1.0 of the software, and says his temp readings were always like mine are now. (hmm)

good thing you posted this, I just downloaded 1.2 the other day. I will use 1.23 when I get it started again.

Patrick is here chilling with all of us. I just connected my AEM WBO2 wire to run closed loop. His car isnt starting and my closed loop s*** isnt working like it should. The O2 correction stays at 0.2%.

When Pat turns his key off we get a loud ass backfire that sounds like someone finally found TheMAN and took a sawed off shotgun to him. (TheMAN is here in my driveway spewing off Mazda part numbers to JDMSam in a massive orgy contest of JDMness... at least someone is having fun eh?)

HAHHAHAHAHA

anyone want to overnight a spare coil or two to patrick? history repeats itself! ROFLWOFL

I have a couple used coils for a 99 1.8. I replaced mine with 01+ coils for use with my hotwires.

Well Ahmad is running with the Closed Loop control now. It works awesomely!! We just have to get it working at idle, because cruising, it kicks azz!

Patrick.. you all good or do you need me to call back still? I'm headed into the garage for a while... but let me know.

later and glad you got it going again!

more details :D

because I'd like to know what you guys think....
or just more info before I get the idea of hooking my AEM Wb02 to my haltech

The funny thing is that my car has always did some type of backfire when I turned the key on sometimes since I had the E6X. Not sure why, but it is if the coils are discharging when I turn the key to the on position before starting. Not sure why that would happen.

I think we figured out the issue. :( Waiting for Juan to call me back. Anyone have a working number?

The settings are pretty self explanitory on the Haltech Closed Loop setup. I connected the 0-5V wire up to pin 2 on the Haltech. Juan had to send me this wire since it was not initially included in my setup. I set the Closed Loop to work at less than 25% throttle and it seems to be the magic number on that. I am currently at 8 engine cycles before correction and it is pretty stable as far as staying stoich at cruising speeds. I am taking out up to 19% fuel at times, I can just imagine how much gas I was wasting before. I will take a screenshot of the screen and my settings as soon as I figure out the idle closed loop deal.

Ahmad

w00t. I believe I am the first "closed loop haltech e6x protege that is not a supplier of haltech products"

Now THAT is a title anyone would be happy to hold...
