The green light went out on Front/Mode air vent button of my 2008 Mazda 5., the middle one of the three temp/vent buttons. All other switches & buttons are OK on the display. Switching vents works OK on this button just no green light. Is this a Dealer issue or is it something else? Hopefully this is a easy solution to fix like just replacing a bulb(?), a minor problem but it bugs the hell out of me. Thanks!

I have not taken apart the Mz5 dash lights but I am almost certain (as is with all other cars) that it is an LED bulb. Give away is that it does not dim with the rest of the interior dash lights. Maybe it’s a law or something but usually all indication lights are LED. I am surprise how only 1 bulb failed and your car is a 2008. If you are still under warranty, take it in and get a new switch.

To replace, take the switch out and apart (you should be able to tell how it comes apart) and simply solder out/in a new LED. I see this as an opportunity to swap all of the green LEDs for something else, like white o blue. Green is easy on the eyes at night but I’m not too fond of the color.

Sometimes mine goes out. A quick tap or knock on the bezel or knob area relights the bulb. :)
