Light flashing in cluster.

Ok so we just bought a 5 last friday and we love it buuuttt.....I got a problem. Tonight was the first night I used the radio with the key in the ACC postion, and when I went to close up this red light now flashes. Its the red car with the key in the middle. Something about the immobilizer (s/p) system. It only flashes when I turn the 5 off, it goes away when I start it. What the hell did I just do?

Yeah. It's telling you that the 'security system' is active.

Read your manual.....

If you are trying to start your car also and that light keeps flashing "give up" because the computer dumped your security code which matches the key.

Don't worry, that means everything is OK.

The flashing red light is for theft deterrent, it lets the theives know that you have a factory security system.

Thanks people, I read the manual but I just wanted to make sure that I understood it right. We bought the car on the 21st and the light didnt start blinking till the 25th. Well I trust my fellow forums dwellers. Thanks again.
