My z828 is defective now, but I was wondering if Mazda will cover this under warranty? The copper/gold connectors behind the faceplate seems to be wearing out. Both the unit and faceplate connectors seems to be wearing out as time goes by.

The display is starting to distort bad. The spinning disc on the right shows up like the Matrix screen. When I press my fingers against the faceplate the images show up properly, so leaves me to think the contacts are wearing out.

I still have plenty of warranty time left, you think I can get them to replace the z828 under the warranty policy? Has anyone replaced their z828 for such reasons yet? Thanks.

I would see if they will. I think they will.
If not then try cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol on a q-tip lIke an old nintendo cartridge :D

I can't imagine that they could *not* cover it. I would assume that the radio should still be unde warranty, but you may want to check your papers. They may just be able to get a replacement faceplate, or they'd have to bump you to somethig newer. Dunno...Good luck, tho...

kenwood is supposed to have a lifetime warranty on that HU. my friend bought it for 800 bucks and a year or so later the face stopped working and just sent it to kenwood and 2 weeks later got it back and wasn't charged.

I never heard that one before??
1 year parts and labor is to my understanding kenwood warrenty.

Okay thanks, I'll give Mazda a call and see how it goes. I also think everything is covered here. I know they replaced my z828 once already for faulty output connector (long time ago).... I haven't bugged them for a very long time so hopefully they won't give me a hassle about this.

i don't think cleaning it will help b/c that was the exact same problem my friend had, you push on the screen and it fixes it. its a awesome stereo, but seeing how much trouble people have had with it i wouldn't buy another kenwood again.
