The Shifter bushings from Kartboy.com are a great purchase. I got mine about a week after sending in the check and installed them today... What a difference the shifting is alot smoother. I don't know about any of you other MP3 owners but my 1st gear was a little likagely feeling when putting it in 1st and 2nd was a little wierd feeling also. But with the Kartboy Shifter bushings it has all gone away nothing but a straight shot nice and smooth into all gears. To sum this up 25 bucks is well worth the change.

I will know tonight as I am picking up mine.... should be a 5 min install.... woo hoo

btw your nick is too close to mine.. change it... :P LOL just kidding

shifter

i installed my shifter and bushings this past weekend. i must agree well worth the money. the install was slcik as spit and took about 40 minutes. made quite the difference.

after a long time of contemplating my options i have decided to get the kartboy combo, i will post pics and details as soon as i install it!, it doesn't ship till wed though :( (2 days from now)

I have been thinking about this mod.......everyone seems real happy with it. Does anyone know if the short shifter kit works with the stock mp3 shift knob?

Thanks

i am still trying to get a definate answer from someone what the true TPI in the MP3 shifter is. i've heard soo many different responses i dont know what to think. i havent been able to get a true MP3 here to make sure. if you could tell me that would be freat
however i know the bushings are the same for all cars
thanks

Tom, I don't know the exact thread and pitch of the MP3 stock shifter but I can tell you that FOR SURE 100% that it is quite a bit smaller in diameter than the stock protege 5 one. The protege 5 uses the standard mazda thread and pitch which it also shares with the miata. The MP3 is the oddball with a totally different thread and pitch. I know this because I bought a Team Voodoo shift knob that was threaded for a miata and it was too big for my stock shifter; I gave the shift knob to my friend and it threaded onto his stock protege 5 shifter no problem.

Shameless plug...

If Kartboy wants, they can send me a free short shift kit w/ bushings and I will gladly tell them if my shift knob fits on or not. ;)

hey i was wondering, are their standard sizes for the threads? or does the manufacture just use whatever the hell they feel like at the time? will PR5 knobs fit on the focus?
