This came up while studying the mx-5 miata/roadster over the weekend.
I know some of you wanted to know for sure, well here it is...
Kansei is a design philosophy that prioritizes an automobiles ability to provide pleasure over its mechanical function or performance data.
Kansei engineering focuses on values such as pleasure and excitement over acceleration and handling.
Through kansei engineering, every sensory aspect of a vehicles design is harmonized to ensure driving satisfaction, driver freedom, and ideal man-machine interaction.
Kansei = sensitive sensibility.
Jinba Ittai translation is Oneness between horse and rider.
The car feels like extensions of your body.
so to me, kansei, jinba ittai, and zoom-zoom are all good phrases best to describe how it feels to drive a miata.
and
not only miata, but allot of other mazdas have this feel.
all or most mazdas just have that natural handling feel.
