hehe yay? even after hearing bout the $300 price? ;) i thought u wouldnt pay for that thing for more than 250 :D

Just messing with u... so at least its confirm that it costs 300 and it would be good enough if we can get it down to 250 on a GB :p
Thank You for people (spicy, red, turbo) who's nice enough to do all these work for us to set up a nice decent GB and Dr. Sound to have all these confirm

is there info on the group buy ? I am in...I know there was a thread on this but if I recall it was alot of complaining about when it would come out

:wtf:

What the hell is wrong with 300$ That's about par for the course for a limited production run piece. These shmucks still have to turn a profit...besides, most CAI's are near that MSRP anyways...are they sold at MSRP? NO! So quit yer' bitchin! IS 50$ gonna make you starve this month? GOD!
[/rant]

Besides, when the GB goes thru it'll be less...it's not like this is the first time that 300$ tag has been put on this item, so there shouldn't been any surprise. I'll pay 300$ to get 12-15 whp...hell equate that to the cost of a turbo and what it adds....it's a bargain!

That's boooolsheeeeeet, I tell you!! Here's a nice alternative that MemphisRacer came up with..

He is using a Honda intake kit from AutoZone ($30.00). He cut the tube to fit, drilled a hole for the Air Temp. Sensor, relocated the coolant bottle, and that's about it. He is using the cone filter that came with the kit, but I think the K&N would fit.

I will probably go this route. Sure; it doesn't go down in the hole like the Injen, so you you still get some engine heat. For about $270.00 less than the Injen...............

I agree with servo 300 bucks isn't exactly expensive for a cold air intake, my friend payed around 250 for the one in his 2k3 Si. My other friend payed 220 for his short ram from injen. I know I'm going to buy one, 300 bucks is part of one paycheck for me, not like I'm going to starve or anything :rolleyes: and the performance is definitely worth it if it kills the stutter and add's some horses.

contact adventon.com if you they can order one for you for cheap.
since they sell other protege injen intakes for about $200.

Has anyone seen the latest dyno sheet on the Injen? Originally; it was around 12+ hp. But; since the modifications, I would be interested to see how it is now.

I'll do you people a favor if I get my MSP this weekend when I go to the dealership I'll order the injen and get it dynoed next weekend to see what it does. How about that? If someone else can do it sooner that's cool I won't be able to get a base dyno for comparison though since the dynopack is coming down next weekend for the car show here.

I hear ya ARG#7!! Damn near everyone on the board was so hot for a CAI that Injen pretty much just said "Hey, we can charge just about anything we want, these guys will buy it reguardless!"

Last weekend, I made my own CAI from stuff I had laying around the garage. Total cost, about $15. Hmm, lests see, 12-15hp for $15 or 12-15hp for $300? You do the math. I'll post some pics tonight when I get home tonight.

Hey Servoeyes, if $300 bucks isn't any big deal to you, have Injen drop ship me one on your credit card. It in no way equates to a bargain, I don't care if you're fuzzy logic tries to compair it to the price of a turbo.

I paid $ 225 for the CAI on the MP3 that we have....$ 300 list is OK...my guess is $ 250 on the street.

As for duties and taxes....well you would pay 15 % tax anyway....if you bought it local. Since the item is made in the USA, there is no additional charges other than a $ 5 cdn brokerage fee from canadapost, jsut do not get it UPS, they charge a $ 30 cdn brokerage fee.

the math

$ 250 US dollars ( 72 cent dollar ) = 347.00 cdn
$ 20 US shipping ( 72 cent dollar)= $ 27.77 cdn

GST and PST $ 52.05 cdn on the intake
GST only on shipping $ 1.94
Canadapost collection fee $ 5.00 plus .35 gst = $ 5.35

Total landed to your door = $ 434.11 for 12 HP and a fix for the hesitation, a cool sound.....worth it in my book.

This wasn't mean to flame anyone...Jeez! All I'm asking is do you have a dyno done on your 15$ intake? I've heard problems with Set-ups similar to memphisRacers ($100+ setup) and just the filter attachment. That's why I'm willing to spend the cash up front. The INJEN is used by 2 members currently, and they haven't had one problem (I'm sure they would have said something). Actually the initial dyno numbers for the injen were ~10 whp...the estimate on the new setup is 12-15...and no my logic is not fuzzy regarding the comparison.
Turbo kit (~2k lets say) added 30 chp...~20-25 whp.
Intake that's solving major issues that Mazda is dragging their feet on and adds 12-15whp...300$. That's 15% the cost for half the wheel horse. Works in my mind.

Listen...I'm not saying the 300$ is nothing for me...I just got out of college and don't even have a job in my field yet, but we have to understand that we are paying all 300$ of this for RnD. Especially since it's a limited production run...if you don't like the cost then don't attack me. Attack INJEN and tell them you want it for less, or just do it yourself and see if it works. You'd think I posted in flamewars or something.

I'd be interested but ONLY if they have cured the stalling and idle problems with this intake. Last I read, Spicey was having some minor troubles with idling in her car. this is nt an option for me as I am not the only driver. So, the intake needs to add HP, but work flawlessly with no side effects.

Newf,

they said that there were no issues w/ the new design, but that doesn't mean that there aren't any. I'm curious about the dyno numbers and the functionality too. The one other thing is the A/F mixture. Do you all think this new intake will lean it out a bit ?
