See the differences here http://mazda626.net/topic/14174-ffs-series-engine-and-cam-specs/ Basically, the engine that has them has 5 less hp than the 10.7:1. Much of the difference is because the compression on the 172 hp engine is higher, 10.7:1 vs 10.4:1. Let me know if you are interested
