I've got a fever...

...and the only prescription is another Mazda 2!

Our 2006 Mazda3 was getting up there in miles, and ultimately we decided to just get another 2 to replace it. There weren't any white 2 Touring models within like 300 miles of the Twin Cities, so I had to order one. Someone at Mazda HQ must have found out how big of a dork I am, as I got the car incredibly fast:

--Ordered mid-March
--Car scheduled to be assembled April 1 (assembly usually happens about a week later)
--Car actually assembled April 1
--Car on boat April 6
--Car at port in Tacoma on April 23
--Car on train to Minneapolis on April 25
--Car at dealer May 6

So, just over a month from assembly to delivery...I'm told it's normally more like 3 months.

Aside from being a 2013 and Crystal White Pearl, it's identical to our 2011 Aquatic Blue 2, even down to the accessories and window tint. Eventually the wife and I will switch cars every day to even out the miles between them (her commute is very short).

Awesome! I've always wanted a new car built just for me, but I usually take the faster/cheaper way of getting what I want. Both my car and my wife's car had to be delivered from out of state to get what we wanted. We probably saved a total of about 5k though over ordering a "new" one. Another upside was I got free tint, armrest, wheel locks, and cargo net.

It's great that you had such a great experience getting the car you wanted. I wanted to order a manual touring but the dealerships said they couldn't order vehicles, one just kept trying to sell me a stripped down 3 sedan instead, and the other 2 or 3 just said no. I had to drive a 10 hour round trip to find a manual touring...they were almost non-existent. I also asked if I could order a fiesta and they didn't want to at all. Probably would've gotten a fiesta if they had let me order one.

P.S.- I think I have the fever too. I really want to get either a '13 MS3 or an RX-8 to add to the 2 and RX-7. If only I weren't so cheap..haha

I was very lucky in that I know the sales guy at the dealer pretty well, and he was more than happy to sell me another car, lol. He had no problems putting in an order for me, and I even got all the discounts and incentives (S-plan, 0% financing, etc), so it worked out to being a pretty good deal. The blue one was a dealer trade from 80 miles away, so it was refreshing to take delivery of a car with only 5 miles on the odometer.

Congrats on the new 2! That's a pretty quick turnaround indeed. Mine was ordered mid-September and didn't arrive until mid-December of 2010.
