Is this 2007 Mazda5 a good deal (Canada)

I phoned a dealer this morning inquiring about buying a 2007 Mazda5 manual, The salesman says he's got 2 and the asking price is 22800 including freight and PDI minus 3500 cash rebate, which is 19300. Then add 7%pst and 5%gst.
Then he phones me later and says if I want the car I can probably get it for 18279 including freight plus pst and gst equaling 20600.00 total. The car is brand new, air, block heater and whatever the GS has for standard equipment. I should mention that this 20600 is only for cash purchase. What do you guys think about this deal?

What does the 2008 GS cost?
Remember the GS doesn't come with the sunroof, fogs, 17s, auto climate control and a few other gizmos.

Whatever the 08 costs a 3500$ rebate is non negligible. The 08 looks nicer IMO (interior I mean), but the 07 is a great car. If you're looking for a deal and have a limited budget (or don't want to spend too much), this is a nice deal. The GS staring price was 19995 last year. So I guess 20600$ all included is a heck of a deal.

Are you financing the loan? If so, you'll have to do the math for what I'm assuming will be a much higher rate. Although the discounts on the 07 were tempting, the 0% financing over 5 years on the 08 made the choice a no brainer for us.

if u're going for financing thru the dealership. u'll be paying standard bank rates which i believe is 8.69%. over 5 years of fiance, roughly you'll pay 3000-4000 extra just on interest alone, so it somewhat even out.

i recently bought a 08 GT myself thru the 0%. i had consider the 07 but den again, they don't have the colour i wanted. so i went for the 08

Zoom5Zoom,

Did you get your 2008 yet? If I remember correctly you sold your blue GS a few months ago and you were waiting for the 2008.

once I finish the basement in my new house I will have to pick me new 5..... but I didnt tell you I am off to Punta Cana at months end eh

If the weatherman is right, Ottawa & Toronto will almost feel like Punta Cana over the next few weeks (wow) with +15 degrees C. Enjoy the Dominican Republic.

I live in Winnipeg, and the deal is still on but for financing it a standard 8% loan over 72 months. Would it be worth it to get the 08 with 0% financing over 60 months.

Doing the math - $20600 loan at 8% with a 72 month term. Payments = $361.18 a month. Total Finance charges over the life of the loan = $5405.30. Keeping payments the same amount monthly for the 0% over 60 months $361.18 a month = $21670.80 loan.

Hope that helps!
