Is painting the valve cover ricey?

I have a silver P5 and the valve cover is in need of something. It's real dull, and I was wondering if this is a ricey thing to do? Also, suggestions as to the color...I was thinking silver to keep the bling factor down...

I personally think painting the valve cover is anti-rice. It is something that when you open the hood can really show how much you care about your car.

If you're looking for things to avoid, don't get colored wire loom and put that all over your engine bay. Just paint/polish the valve cover, and keep your engine bay cleaned as best you can, so when you do open your hood, people take notice.

I would also suggest painting your exhaust heatshield, if you don't have a header. I painted mine flat black and it looks awesome IMO.

if it looks like s***, it's rice.
If its done good, and is not some crazy color that doesnt match or go with your car, then it will look nice and not ricey.

I personally like the look of a valve cover painted black with wrinkle paint and the mazda letters polished. That's how I'll do mine if I ever get around to it.

So are you driving a Mazda or a Honda? Or are you a honda wanna be?

Honda is the only one that I have seen the wrinkled look. And that is factory with them. But hey, that's just my opinion...Either way, as long as you keep it clean, TunerSteve says it all...It shows how much care and time you put into the car. (Mine is red...)

I think the painted looks good but polished looks best:) the plastic covers look nice too.

I just like the color scheme. You got some kinda problem with honda?

Exactly, keep it clean. My feeling is that if the part is not "performance" oriented, then don't paint it a bright color. (ie. red wire loom) As said before, a consistant theme is all you need. Don't go rainbow brite on us.

Doesn't the Mazdaspeed Miata have a wrinkle red valve cover too ?
