iPhone 4 Bluetooth Audio - Playback Functions

Hi folks,

I've been poking around here trying to see if anyone else has this issue and, while I see there's plenty threads on bluetooth functions in general, I haven't found a thread that addresses this issue.

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the lack of shuffled play via bluetooth connectivity using an iPhone 4. My bluetooth connection and features work fine otherwise (except for the lack of listening to voicemail via car audio, but that's another story), but I can't activate shuffled play of audio -- either using the iPhone's shuffle icon (pressing it does nothing) or the shuffle button on the car audio menu (it's greyed-out).

Any advice?

I have iOS 6.0.1 and my CX-5 has a Bose system w/ touchscreen + navigation (without satellite). All the other iPod functionality works when using the USB connection, but sometimes it's easier to be cordless.

Thanks.

We have in our house, an iPhone 4 (not 4S), an iPhone 5, a Samsung Galaxy SIII and a 2nd gen iPod Touch. The only one that appears to support shuffle over Bluetooth is the iPhone 5. None of the others will shuffle. All of them, with the exception of the SIII which isn't compatible, will shuffle over USB. Hope that helps. I'm not sure if there is a way to set up the shuffle on a playlist prior to connecting the device and if it would continue to shuffle once connected.

I have a 4S and shuffle is turned off when the phone connects to the CX5 via bluetooth, it cannot be turned on unless you play a playlist and even then the shuffle option on the radio isn't available, you have to select it on the phone.

I abandoned BT audio and am using the iphone sync cable. The phone still connects via BT for calls though.

Thanks everyone!
I have an iPhone 4 and the shuffle function isn't available on the radio or the iPhone itself (pressing on the phone doesn't do anything). Everything works fine otherwise. Looks like I'll stick to the USB cable.

Just found this thread - I have the 2014 CX-5 GT+Tech and an iPhone 4S. Same here. Shuffle and repeat don't seem to work when connected via bluetooth. Also, USB cable doesn't work - I get an error message. My iPhone 4S is 64G, not sure if that is a problem (too much music).

Still doesn't work - updated to IOS 6.1.1 on the iPhone 4S - shuffle/repeat still don't work.

I have a 2014 Mazda 6 GT - Completely up-to-date and have same issue. I've been reading articles on the Apple Developer Pages (I'm an ex-developer), and it seems like iOS 6 is the problem. Apple doesn't want to admit this, but there's a whole host of connectivity and pairing issues that emerged with this new release.

They've said that a "fix is coming" but no time frame as of yet, or no specification to whether it will fix this problem or not.

Just and update - iOS 6.1.3 fixes this issue.

Just make sure that your phone/ipod is on, Shuffle is ON, and the phone is playing BEFORE you select the "Bluetooth" option in the navigation. Works every time.

If the phone is already connected and playing but isn't shuffling - use the voice command "shuffle all" to get it working again :)
