Installed Boost Guage, Stock MSP, and a little surprised

Installed my Ultra-lite Autometer boost guage (0-35 PSI). The install went very well, I've installed a few boost guages on other cars before, so I didn't struggle.

Anyways, driving the car is the important part. As I drove, I floor'd it in 2nd and third gear to shockingly see an 8 PSI peak at around 3500-4000 RPM. Now redline boost was 6.5 PSI exactly in 2nd gear.

When everyone refers to readings of 6.5 PSI are they speaking of the read at redline or the max read period. If so my max read was 8 PSI.

Please advise?

Got my MBC, but won't put it in until I've straightened this out.

Thanks guys.

stock boost varies form car to car. I have heard people with 4 psi stock and those like you with 8 psi. I had 6.9 psi or about 7 which is what it is supposed to be.

Just enjoy it:D

That doesn't answer my question about whether people are commenting about their PSI at redline or their max PSI around 4000 RPM.

yeh i heard most msps hit max psi at around 4k and then it drops as the ecu dumps fuel in high revs......ill see what mine does when i get my gauge in.....

From my research on this board, I think I'm going to run 9-10 daily on 93 octane post-flashed. I just want to confirm that when people are stating their PSI that they're speaking of their PSI at redline.

Thus, I would be going from 6.5 to 9-10. Due to this my peak at 14 will probably be 12-13 or so.

t3ase, you still chillin at 12?

Let me know what your schedule is this week, maybe we can meet up and I can use your expertise in the fine art of the MBC + MSP.

sorry didnt read close enough....

MAX psi is what peopel refer to

I missed this one before, thanks, that's the answer I was looking for.

A little bewildered about why it runs 8, almost want to try another boost guage.

I guess I'll only be upping my boost by about 2PSI which is a little upsetting. My car didn't feel 'special' or really even that fast. It felt like a mid/high 15 second car, IF THAT. I was hoping a 4PSI jump would do it justice, but now the butt dyno will only see a 2PSI gain.

Oh well, thanks for the answers.

hmm mine spikes right when i throw it into gear and step on the gas... it spikes to 10 then but then relaxes down to 7 which is where it stays... is that normal?

Brian- I'm currently in Colorado, so I can't do much for you this week. I'll be back around the 16th or so...

Mine peaks and hold at 7psi, then goes down to 4.5-5psi as I get closer and closer to redline.

I need some hardpipes to keep the boost up there!

And my car's stock right now boost wise due to the thin air & climate here...

Once I get back to Austin, it's on again... I can't wait.

Cool, have fun. I leave for Calif on the 19th, won't be back again till the first. We'll hookup after that.
