Anyone have any success/failure stories with the Injen RD6060P Cold Air Intake for the Mazda PR5? This is the only Cold Air Intake i have found, is it worth the $320 they ask?

Does anyone know of any other CAI's for the Mazda PR5? Or any good online shops for stuff like this (i.e. good prices, fast shipping, trustworthy)?

well cheese...seeing as how you are from california....YOU need to shop around....that price is WAY out of line if you are talking US dollars.....but YES. I have one on my P-5 and love it.

look at www.protege5online.com the price is a LOT cheaper than what you quoted!!

The $350 i quoted was the price that INJEN wanted... www.protege5online.com wants $250 for it, but i also found it for the below prices...

$230 @ http://www.optauto.com/webstore/product_list.asp?dept=1586&last=1586

$220 @ http://www.autocarparts.com/search/results.php3?man=InJen&make=7&model=94

Has anyone shopped from either of these two places? Are they trustworthy? ship fast?

oh yeah, and Sir Nuke, did you put it in yourself? was it there any drilling or permanent modification done to the chasis of the car?

YEP, I installed it myself...took all of an hour or so....NO mods to anything, no drilling at all.

no matter where you get one from...go the Protege5Online.com site and go to their tech section and get the instructions that Mitch has up there the install....they are a LOT easier and clearer than the ones that come with the intake.

I dig the intake. I'm sure if we were to dyno the car that there wouldn't be any major gains but I think it adds to the fun of driving the car. Notice a bit more throttle response and I love the growl. Took about an hour (not rushing) and the install is easy. Definitely don't remove the front bumper like the instructions say. You can unscrew the wheel well plastic. Also there are a couple of ways to mount the coolant reservoir. Instructions say you can drill or use the L bracket. Did anyone notice that you could rotate the reservoir and still attach it in the original position without drilling? That's how I attached it. I didn't feel like drilling and the L bracket looked kind of flimsy.

www.adventon.co has them for $205. I bought from them with no problems. Very smooth transactions!

wow! that's so cheap...as a rule of thumb when buying car parts or anything...never pay full retail price...like for the injen $320 is WAY too much to be paying for that...it's not worth 320...but it is worth 230...
