Injen CAI Question

Hey guys, I just registered to your Forum, I have a question that maybe one of you can answer. I just installed the Injen CAI in my Mazdaspeed, I am very happy with it, it sound great and I have great top end power now. My question is, second gear seems a little weak, it takes longer to gain speed in second gear, I don't get the hard pull anymore. I used to be able to spin tires on second gear really easy, but now I can just barelly do it. Is this normal? Have any of you experienced this in your cars? Thank you.

hmm, perhaps you speak of the hesitation. i wouldnt have any idea, i drive an mp3 daily, my dad drives our MSP. Check the DYNO from Injen with the CAI installed and look and make sure that torque and HP back up your claims or not.

let me find the dyno sheet with the CAI from my car.... brb

ahh here it is:

If I remember correctly, an opened up intake and exhaust will usually sacrifice some torque at lower RPM ranges which is a trade off for the extra torque at the higher RPM ranges. IIRC it's only a slight difference though.

I'm no mechanic, just a geek who reads alot.

i read that somewhere as well, that sacrifices are made at the lower range... thats why i asked someone to pull the dyno :D

i bet its just power you lost at low RPMS but make it up when you get to around 3500...

Thank you for your replies, what you say makes sence, the stock airbox is shorter thus closer to the turbine in the turbo. This is the only thing I can think of, because I gained a lot of top end power.

hummm, I don't why , but Injen Technologie send me the dyno sheet of the MSP Injen, its about 10whp of gain....

I don't know which are the real .............

10whp of gain in the top RPMs, not lower RPMs. it kicks in (the additional power) after 3500rpms...
