Infinity?

What Do You Guys Think About Infinity Speakers? Was Thinking About Getting 4 6.5 Speakers For The P5 And Get Two Infinity Reference 1230w Subs. Any Opinions??

Have you listened to the Infinity speakers? If you are talking about Infinity reference speakers then they may be a bit more mid-rangy than what you're used to. Kind of like a Yamaha NS-10 in the studio reference world. I wasn't at all displeased with the Infinity's sound (these were components), because I used to work with NS-10's everyday. But some folks may not find it pleasing to their ears. Definitely give a listen before you buy (Circuit City, etc).

I've got an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10VQ sub, and that speaker hits pretty darn good. have not heard the 1230w's though.

Make sure you hear them before you buy.

What is your budget? What H/U ya got and what amp do you plan on using to drive the speakers?

I have Infinity comps in front and 6x9 rears, love'em.
But some people do not like "harsh tweaters" I like the seperation and clarity of highs it produces. I find the crossover to be excellent as well.

My subs are ID so cant comment on the Infinity's but they have a good rep.

Also check out CDT's and Focals for the comps (cool)

www.sounddomain.com under forums then search type CDT or Focal or Infinity under speakers and the sub sections. Yeah it is not the best boards but you dont have to put up with all super high end audio snobs pushing $15,000 systems saying everything else is crap.

i have the 1230 or the 1232 i cant remember. but they are some awesome subs, little low max watt, but great subs. pwns the crap out of those ricers and those dub cars haha. i also had those subs in a big ass crap of a box i think like 2in? im not that sure, but big(thats in the cubic measurement). as for the speakers, i think you should look at the ones on display and ask the sales man of his thoughts of them, but i like their subs and if the speakers are the same thing i would definely buy them. OR u could wait for 1sty to get on this lol

They make a quality product.
Buy speakers only after listening to them.

I had all 4 alpine type r's befor and the highs were to high and the 6X9s I felt had no lows. I switched all 4 out for the Infinities and changed from the Rockford Fosgate Phase 2 to the infinity subs. I couldn't be happier. The Kappas can handle anything I through at them, Rock rap heavymetal on down to my smoth jazz and County. I highly recomend (?) them. Look at my sig and you'll see what I have. You can also ask some of the guys that went to the Dallas meet in April I got a lot of complements on the set up.
Just my .02

i owne all infinty speakers and i love them. MY front componets could use a bit more mid bass, but nothing ridiculous. I'm powering the speakers with JL amps....subs hit nicely too. I actually got them all off ebay.

now what amp??

Do you want 1 amp for all 4 speakers and sub, or 1 for the speakers and 1 for the sub?

I have 2 rockfords and I think they're great. Not to expensive but not cheap either.

I like Infinity speakers. Their Perfect subs are awesome. I've got a Kappa sub now, and it's good, but the Perfect I had before was better. For regular full range speakers I'm a Polk fan. My ears like them slightly better than Infinity. Listen to a bunch and see what you like.

My advice would be to first determine a budget because you can get higher quality speakers if you plan right. I have Kappa 3 ways in my rear doors and they provide rear fill just fine.

I also bump a Perfect 10 and I think it's very respectable as far as subs go. Sure there are "better" subs, speakers, amps, etc...but whatever sounds good to you is the best!

I used to think Infinity speakers were the best sounding speakers because I was listening to them side by side with Pioneer and Sony...now that's crap!! So I guess I would say, in my current state of car audio evolution, that Infinity makes the best of the crap! But hey, like they say...opinions are like assholes, we all got em and they all stink!
Pick yourself up a set of some Boston Z's for the low low price of $1000 and I'm sure you will be happy. Again, it's all about affording the best sounding set of speakers in your price range.(headbang)

I have all Infinity's in my MP3, including the Basslink Sub and I love them, they are so much brighter and clearer up high than the stock Kenwoods. And they reproduce low frequencies tons better too. A great buy if I do say so myself!

You know, I looked at the Focal, Boston, and alpine and some others and what sold me on the Infinities were the price and quality. Yea there are higher end stuff but you know you can onlly listen to so loud and then your just hurting your ears. I already have to use an ear plug when I bassing it. So I wouldn't recommend speakers that are more then 250.00 a pair. Any thing over that is just over kill. Now amps, thats were you need to spend the money. A bad amp will make a good speaker sound like crap, so don't cheap out on it.

ITs not the volume that makes a speaker better, its the speakers ability to play music at higher levels and not become a source of disortion. The boston Z's for example can be absolutly flogged more then damn near any other speaker and will still sound musical while doing. Most other drivers would be cracking and popping and becoming painful to listen too. This is especialy common of tweeters. HOwever, at lower volumes, you will hear detail in something like a focal k2P that you will simply NEVER hear from a $250 anything.

I still remember the first time I heard the Z's in a car. I was in the back of tweeter coming into work and an installer was tuning a system. Before I saw what it was, I though the music I was hearing was coming from either the Sonus Farber Grand Painos or some of our larger Martin Logan home speakers that a salesmen was listening to in the stock room. Each set of which is more then $4000. Turns out it was the installer with only a pair of boston Z playing in a customers car. Incredible sound.

All I'm saying is for the every day guy the mid 250 range is more then good enough. If I could afford the Bostons hell yea I would get them in a heart beat. But 600-1000 apair, there are just to many other things out there that I want. With the system I have now I still get complements and it sounds clear and if I want to thump it can do quit well for what is in it. Is it the best? No, but there are way worst systems out there. Hell there is on pair of Bostons that almost cost what my hole system did, they are good but not that good.

I understand, I am just pointing out the differences that exist between those ranges of speakers.

Obviously, although they may be perfect for you, they are not for everyone. Some will hear the difference in a $250 speaker compared to a $1000 and others will hear none. Some will hear enough of a difference to justify the cost. Others will not or be happier with the extra money in there wallets.

Like everything else in life we all see value in different things.
I can see myself spending that much on speakers but I could never spend the $5K on a TV that people are dropping for plasmas.
