"Improved" rear bushings squeaking?

Mine sure are. How about yours now that there's a few miles on them? The clunk isn't back (yet), its just squeaking noises over uneven pavement.

My fronts squeak in the cold too, goes away when the car warms up unless its really cold, then they just creak all day.

This is the back, though. Appeared over the weekend. I can't tell if its temperature dependant or not. Does not go away even on an extended drive. Tried lubing with some silicone spray, with no effect. It has been very cold here.

I think my rear suspension is also squeaking (so does the front)...
I got the new rear bushing maybe a month ago...

I wasn't too sure if it was my imagination...I'm not alone!!!

Basically, it's been extremely cold here (close to 0F), so when the car is cold, it just squeaks from EVERYWHERE!

I think we're in the same boat. Mine's going in for an oil change on Saturday, so I'm going to ask them to inspect the bushings and lube. Silcone spray didn't work, but maybe there's something else they can do. Maybe its just the cold. Oh well, its got character.

It has been very cold here as well, as low as -10*f some days. I can't wait for SPRING!!!!!

I got the sway bar and bushings replaced and now a few weeks later I hear the squeaking from the back. It's a much different noise than the one that comes from the front. It has been very cold here though.

Yes, much different. The front is more of a crunch, sounds sort of like stepping on a soda can. The rear is a squeak, like something needs lubrication. The squeak most often appears on uneven pavement- like when one wheel hits a bump the other doesn't, or particularly a bump when cornering.

The front bushings have to be replaced, the part is in ECI with Mazda and on backorder I'm waiting for mine to come in. I had my rears replaced almost 2000 miles ago and have had no occurances of noise or clunking of any kind since being replaced. I drove from Detroit to Myrtle Beach, to Tennesee and back to Detroit last week with a full load in the car( 4 passengers and a trunk full of cargo), through the mountains. I was pretty happy with the cars performance on the trip considering the suspension was overloaded to the hilt. :D

Here's my experience with the squeaks from the bushings, both front and rear.

Front: I have more or less heard the front bushings squeak as soon as the morning temperatures starting falling in the 50's. The squeaks then tended to vanish after the bushings warmed up a bit. This seems to be consistent with that observed by numerous other members.

REAR: At about 3000 miles, i.e., the middle of December 2003, I noticed the very beginnings of the "clunk" from the rear bushings.

Shortly thereafter I took my MSP in for service and had the fronts lubricated with white lithium grease and the rears replaced with the series "E" bushings.

The front have not squeaked since then, but the rears make a brief "click" or "tick" occasionally. The "click" occurs when I am coming to a full stop and the weight of the car is transferred from a forward to a rearward motion.

I'll check anything just to be sure, but I don't believe the seat belts would cause the noise I'm hearing. In fact, I'd be stunned. It really only occurs when an uneven load is applied to the rear suspension. For example- If I go over a speedbump straight on, no squeak. If I go over it at an angle, loud squeak when the rear tires go over.

They didn't give me a part # when they replaced my suspension bushings, I'll be PO'ed if they just used the old ones and my rear end is all loose again. The work was done after X-mas, so it should be the new part unless they're idiots.

I wish my E's squeeked. They've never squeeked a bit but now they're clunking again. Got about 3000 miles on them with horrendous roads.

Check the MP3 clunk thread for ALL info regarding the E bushings...no need for this thread here.

I looked around, but didn't find what I was looking for in that thread. Plenty of clunk, not a lot of squeak.

You could have asked the question in that thread---plenty of people in there could have given you the same answers as you're getting here. No biggee though.

I suppose I could, but then I could have been accused to threadjacking by some irate person with a clunk. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. ;)

Girth - the E series has failed? dammit. My dealer replaced the sway bar and the bushings (D series) and so far so good. Just a squeak on the colder days.

Iam in louisana and i have the e bushings they were put on 2 months ago Mine are sqeaking like crazy I sit down in my car and they sqeak It was like 69 the other day same thing 40 degrees today same thing Going to dealer to see whats up Need th get front done because they sound like the windshield is about to come out . But i still love my speed I want to see what they say about this stikeses

MazdaDryvr :

I have the E bushings...they dont clunk, they squeak! (only when tha car is very cold), otherwise they`re pretty good so far...

ok here's the low down for those too lazy to look

1st, do not beleive that the e's fail yet. the only people (4) that have had issues have all had old sway bars.

2nd: The squeak you are hearing is not the bushings, it's the rear tokico's. I went through all this with the mp3, even had the tokicos's replaced ( went away for a while )

3rd: the front bushings do make this scrunching sound like driving over a coke can, when their cold. My Advice, live with it, it's a winter thing.
