I want this Head Unit...

I really want this head unit. Does anyone know if it will fit in a 2002 Protege ES? If so, where can I purchase a dash kit and a wiring kit? Crutchfield says it doesn't fit.

Why wouldn't it fit? 'course it does, infact I'm just about positive that there's a couplefew guys in here running them. JUst get a harness and a dash kit to fill up the extra space.

Oh it'll fit no problem. I think Crutchfield says that all Alpine decks are too deep to fit, but its not the case. I have the 9775 in my car, and it fits fine. Order it without choosing a car, and then in the "other info" section, say its for a mazda protege, and that you need the tools, wiring harness, and dash kit for it, and they will just send it with the headunit. The stuff is free when you buy it from them anyways.

Crutchfield mis measured the protege back in 2001 and have been sticking to there claim ever since. I have called those clowns 5 times to tell them that the alpine indeed fit and I even offered tosend them pictures with alpines installed in protege. I never get a call back.

Rest easy, they will fit just fine. Also part of the deal with buying from the crotch, is that you get a free wire harness and dash kit.

^^That's true about crutchfield's fit guide on Proteges. Funny thing too, is that they give you a free dashkit (as well as harness) for the radio that "does not fit" and it goes in like glove!
