I might be a Honda defector

If only I had the money.

I've been a Civic owner for the past 7 years, and my wife an Accord owner. We're avid Honda fans because of the great quality engines, reliable cars, and usability. We thought we were Honda for life.

Well, I did own an MX-6 before the Civic.

Anyways, the Mazda 3 5dr hatch kicks ass in my book. It meets every single need I have. I'd be running out the door to buy one but I just don't have the money.

Mazda did good.

Even the power curve looks excellent.

One worry: sharing 40% with the Ford Focus. Focus is a good car, but For still doesn't have my trust for reliability.

dude the power curve looks great. im jealous.

but its only a shared chassis and the ford duratech block. its engineered by mazda. so i think it should be fine.

welcome. :)

The sharing is with the next-gen European Ford Focus and new Volvo S40 (N. America's Focus isn't getting this platform anytime soon and maybe not at all). The European Focus is awesome driving-wise and very, very good reliability-wise.

Hey chimchim
I hear you! I own a 91' Honda Civic 3 door Hatchback. I've had this great little car for 12+ years. I made a list of what I was looking for in my next car and looked at what was currently available on the market and the Mazda3 meets most of my needs. I too can't currently afford one:'( , but I'm saving up my money and hope to buy a 2005 Mazda3:)
