For example, the Protege5 subforum doesn't have HTML in posts enabled, but the NEPOC section does.. it seems that roughly 50% of the subforums fall into each category (enabled or not).
I know underneath the post box there's the "posting rules" so I can always check and see, but I run into problems posting photos hosting on my Picasa Web Albums account.. even though I can give a direct ".jpg" URL to the image, it's served up via PHP and for whatever reason the vBcode image tags don't interpret it as an image and just display a link to the picture. If I use an HTML IMG tag, it works fine.
I know another forum I'm a postwhore on doesn't allow HTML in posts at all (at one point they found that most spam posts the forum was getting had HTML in them, and blocking HTML stopped the spam posts), but on that forum the vBcode interprets the image URL as expcted. Perhaps this is a vBulletin bug that has been fixed? I know that forum is on vB 3.6.x (which integrates multiquote, nested quotes, and a few other things that used to be mods you had to add on.. so nice!).
I'll have to look into the changelogs for the versions of vB newer than 3.5.4 to see if I can find anything. I'm in a 3-hour lecture right now so I may get bored and do the research haha.
Just wanted to post this thread instead of bugging a single admin since I know you guys have lives (wth.. you guys are supposed to be straight up computer nerds with no lives like I am haha).
